DAMN! Just the first episode and I was at awe! I'll give this an even higher rating than those at ANN who already did. I already had my eyes set out for this and the first episode was simply a work of art, it's gorgeous! I'm gonna keep my hopes high for this one, I might even go as far as to read its manga NOW!! :D I do hope that SynergySP could directly follow its manga without too much deviation and NOT cut it short into a 26 below episode series. For now, I've got nothing else to say than I'm really looking forward to its story and the romance buildup.
The first half of the episode was so "cute" (Awww~) then... Though I already had a "feeling"... Zzzip! I wouldn't want to spoil it. For anyone who's interested, it's already subbed. Grab it at the usual places.
I guess I would be jumping over to another forum site solely for discussions. FAKKU! is really much more for the pervs after all. (nothing can be done about it)

Plot Summary: Koh Kitamura is a fifth grader whose family runs a sporting goods store. One of the regular customers of his family's store is the Tsukishima Batting Center, and so he gets to know the four daughters of the Tsukishima family (Ichiyo, Wakaba, Aoba, and Momiji) very well. Since Koh has spent so much time practicing in their batting cages, he has become a genius hitter, but has no knowledge of any other aspect of baseball. This is in contrast to Aoba, who, despite being a year younger, is an adept pitcher and hitter. Wakaba is a classmate of Koh's, and she seems fully intent on marrying him when she grows up. All seems idyllic in their world, until... :P ... The story then skips ahead to four years later, as Koh has continued the training he began four years ago, but has not played in a baseball game since. As he finally begins playing again, it remains to be seen whether or not he will live up to the expectations of those who know the true talent he has been hiding all this time. "Summer Rain" by Kobukuro (OP)
"Koikogare te Mita Yume" by Ayaka (ED)

The first episode of the anime series was called the "masterpiece of the new season" by Anime News Network, who also complimented the musical score as "understated but highly effective". Two reviewers at ANN gave it the highest possible rating, with one stating that he'd give a higher rating if possible.DAMN! Just the first episode and I was at awe! I very wary of Mitsuru Adachi works because they're known for really dragged out romances and somewhat inconclusive endings. I watched Touch, and I thought it was a somewhat a waste of time. (101 episodes plus OVAs)
I'll see if for myself if Cross Game is worth it, though since ANN is praising it, it should be worth it.

Hey g-money, you double-posted the same thing. ^^'
Seems this is good huh? I love a good sports anime :3 (favorites being Initial D, and followed by Hajime no Ippo). I'll make sure to watch once any br sub picks it.

Tired of all the moemoe anime last season so i gave this a try, nice execution and seemed rather face paced. at the end
Gotta love the anime this season.

I'm a very big fan of Adachi. While I do agree that some of his works were dragged out romances with inconclusive ends, not all of his works are like that either.
Cross Game in my opinion has been very good compared to his other works. I liked Tough and H2 (manga) never watched the anime though. I hate fillers.
I do hope that Cross game won't have that many fillers as opposed to the older series. However this time around from what the manga showed us, it's quite a fast paced story. Leaving aside the sudden of Wakaba in episode one, the rest should be like all his other animes that are about baseball.
Seriously though. This Mangaka is the only one who has ever gotten me hooked to so many of his manga using the same characters (design wise) over and over and over and over again.
Still I'm a sucker for romance anime that bring sport//competition into it.

Episode 2 was "almost" just as good as the first when it came down to everything... but the first was so "special" (in a lot more ways than one) and I doubt that it's gonna be surpassed by any of its following episodes.
So the OP sequence does make sense as when showing a great deal of Wakaba's images whom "we" all know... Her role in the series isn't quite over yet (as we might have initially thought) and was rather nicely set up. This is how "flashbacks" naturally works best, if you know what I mean.
That braggart ace pitcher "wannabe" was getting on my nerves seriously (not that much but he's really annoying!). I didn't even bother with his name. I love the part wherein Koh was teasing Aoba to the point where she couldn't stand it anymore that she had to openly admit how much she hates him... not that it's anything new for Koh though. (nice block btw)
I simply adore these two "characters" - they really make up a good pair. What makes them more special/different is the fact that they were already entangled to one another (thanks to Wakaba) without them realizing it... or something along those "cheesy" lines. :D
I'd like to see more anime adaptations with such potential/caliber in the near future and not just the common/typical ones. I particularly like "realistically light-hearted and (semi)romantic" themed storylines. (such as Cross Game) :D
ed:
I almost forgot to mention that both Miyu Irino and Haruka Tomatsu are doing a good job on portraying their respective roles (as Koh & Aoba). :D

You're not the only one
Don't think that you guys are the only victim here...!
RAGE!!! :x
FUCK Shiki subs to HELL!! The heck, such a very immature way of dealing with issues. If they don't fuckin like any other anonymous groups re-encoding their stuff they should have just re-encoded those themselves in the first place!
"FUCK their excuses even more! I'm through with them!" ... which I probably should say but so long as they continue working on Cross Game, I could easily forget about this shit like it never happened.
here's an official statement posted at their site: http://shikiblog.blogspot.com/
I'll be counting on this.
I do hope Central Anime could become more consistent/regular on their releases (my primary alternative). MJN, like I've said before, ain't bad BUT they should rather focus more on Major S5 instead, seriously! Jade is not much different from MJN! They really take their precious time...!
Lovely single, if I do say so myself. I've been too lazy as of late so there you have it (unarchived)... - anyway, feel free to dl those, and don't forget the actual ED theme! (a very heartwarming and meaningful ballad, imo) - esp while listening to it after every episode of Cross Game.
Now, where the fuck is ep.5...?! (I can't even find a damn good RAW!?) On a side note, Central Anime so far has been "punctual" on their releases, every Sundays... I'm gonna try subsmith's release for now. :D

Here's another one of my favorites. My interest and love for it hasn't gone done a single bit ever since the first episode.
Hmmm, where should I start. I've been following SubSmith's release ever since the fail that we know of as Shiki called quits. From then on, following the series has only become more delightful and satisfying; quite steady in a weekly basis. :D
So, what episode was it again when Momiji had a fever? The fifth if I'm not mistaken, the one entitled "Can I borrow a pot?". Lol, its title alone was already humorous. I've got to say that's my favorite ep thus far. Very heart warming, esp the flashback part when Momiji talked to Koh about her late mom's drawing that she did, and so on.
Aside from that, many other fun things have happened. I can't begin to tell everything about it. "Simplicity at its best." - that's one way to describe how good this series is for me. And just to note from the recent episode, Koh is such a nice guy (well, ever since from the beginning). Still, I never would have thought that he's been staying true to Wakaba's birthday-gift list... awww, that's very sweet... but come to think of it, what's next at the end of the list? (it got me depressed for a minute) :(
Btw, its manga is already in my must-read list (such a short list it is). Actually, I've already got the first 5 volumes stored. :) I'm really urged to read it now... I've taken several peaks... but I'll hold of until the anime's done.

New ED: SQUAREHOOD - "Orange Days"
Been awhile since I've last heard a Japanese rnb/hiphop love song and so I'm diggin it; plus, I do believe that it fits the series.
Episode 14 was again, simply lovely. The story, the characters, I could go all day long talking about it and how much I just can't get enough of this series; Koh's wholesome and carefree attitude and Aoba always hating him for whatever he says or does; Ichiyo's got a suitor and what's more, it's Yuhei's brother, Junpei (scoring 2 points out of one hundred); Momiji's sooo cute and awesome; Nomo, the best cat ever; Aoba's ridiculously stupid fans/suitors; Wakaba's lingering bittersweet memories; and so many more...
The last time that I've felt something like this was a long time ago with Beck. It's hard to explain that certain feeling but when I say that I love this series, for everything that it is (despite its flaws), it's genuine and is quite on a different level as to when I say "I love Black Lagoon", which is in fact my number 1 favorite. I'm not expecting anyone to understand but I suppose saying that already sends the message of how special this series is for me. How I've waited so long for something like this to knock on my door once more.
I should definitely include some caps if not for being too much of a hassle...

Surprised I posted yet again in here? (I just feel like increasing my post count a little) -not that anyone would actually give a crap about it
so getting down to business... (I've pretty much ran out of things to say so I'd ask for a change)
Why did I only realize now how genius Mitsuru Adachi is? -Because I'm a timid manga reader perhaps?
Anyways, another question that's more related on the anime series this time (albeit rhetorical and unanswerable) -why do I get the urge or feeling that I wanna cry (though I don't cry, really) whenever any Wakaba related memories are brought up? -Technically, I know the answer; because Adachi wrote the story and SynergySP is doing an awesome job with the adaptation. But as for the 'illogical' aspect, does this mean I still have what an ordinary person would call... a 'heart'? (I thought I've gotten rid of it a long time ago) *ahem* The thing that I'm saying is that the series has way too much heart put into it that I cannot help but be moved/touched by it, as if I feel exactly the same way as the characters' do. And that's why I dare to call the creator of this series a genius.

Best Master-San
well, I LOVE this anime, and you're not the only one who like Mitsuru Adachi. I actually read almost all my sister's manga.
I just don't have any thought about posting. :p
Oh yeah, the wakaba "syndrome" is happening to me. everytime she appears I went silent...
