Initial D - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Stages

ANN wrote...
High school student Takumi Fujiwara works as a gas station attendant during the day and a delivery boy for his father's tofu shop during late nights. Little does he know that his precise driving skills and his father's modified Toyota Sprinter AE86 Trueno make him the best amateur road racer on Mt. Akina's highway. Because of this, racing groups from all over the Gunma prefecture issue challenges to Takumi to see if he really has what it takes to be a road legend.No Initial D topic? Shame on you guys. Here, I'll fix that.
>The episodes are divided like this:
1st Stage: 26 episodes;
2nd Stage: 13 episodes;
3rd Stage: movie;
4th Stage: 24 episodes;
(and a few other OVA's and Korean live action film)
The 1st Stage started airing in 1998, so it's a bit of an oldie. The 4th stage ended in 2006, but they currently keep producing OVA's (the Extra and Battle Stages). So yeah, it's a long running series. You can through the 4 seasons pretty fast though.
Watch at least the 5 episodes of the anime and you should be hooked by then. Don't dismiss this anime because it's about racing. Do yourself a favor, try it.

Watch it! >:(

You guys seriously never heard of it? What have you been doing?
The manga started running in 1995 and is still ongoing, even tokyopop licensed it!
This is one of the most famous long running animes out there.

There are some pre-2000 animes that are very good. Even better than most recent ones.

I've seen Initial D and played both the arcade and PSP. I liked it. This show got me interested in cars and I'm quite thankful for that. I think my favorite would be both the Second and Fourth Stage.
This scene is my absolute favorite.

Haha that was awesome.

Yeah! Initial D! This series is awesome. Coming from a gearhead's perspective it's pretty damn good. You guys should also try out one called Wangan Midnight. It's based on highway battles whereas Initial D is touge based.

Everything about this anime is good but the only downside and thing that turns me off is the artist and how he draws the faces >..> , other then that its an awesome series.

Although his style does improve over the seasons (or maybe it's different animators).

What an unexpected necrobump. Hopefully people will try this though.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to clean up my OP for less faggotry.

This topic has been dead for a year, but I just want to add how much I loved this show. With the exception of the lips, I thought it was really good. Eight-Six ftw!

Man, I used to love this series a lot. Watched a lot of them and owned vol.1-32 of the Initial D manga (I think it stopped at 50-something, not positive though...)
This anime really got me into to cars and racing.
My favorite part of the anime though has to be the one with Mako and Sayuki with their Sil-Eightey. That part of the story was really heart-touching to me.

The manga is still ongoing actually; I tried to read it from the beginning after watching the whole anime on netflix a few months ago. I'll probably read it after another few months when the story's not so fresh for me.
Yea, necrobump. lol. I just didnt like the popular topics in this forum and wanted to see if people loved the anime as much as I did. I hadn't heard a thing about it and watched it just because. Lucky me. :) Woot woot *dance it out*
