On the dark path of swordsmanship in a "Futuristic" yet Feudal Japan, it is said that the one who becomes No.1 will rule the world. But the only rule in this world is that only the No. 2 is allowed to fight the No. 1. The No. 2, the Afro Samurai, travels the road looking for revenge on the man who murdered his father in front of him when he was just a boy, a three-armed gunman who is the lord of the dark swordsman's road and the current No. 1. You have got to be kidding me!! No Afro Samurai topic? oh no no, I won't allow that. :)
This thing is PACKED with extreme fighting action. Including samurais, gunmans, and all sorts of crazy guys.
And for the love of god, don't you DARE not try this!!!
It is only 5 episodes long!! So you've got NO excuse to not watch it.
Oh yes, make sure you watch it in a decent quality. Cuz this thing moves way too fast for crappy qualities. xD
It is dubbed, but don't let it hold you back! It doesn't make it any less great.
It features a hip-hop OST that matches wonderfully with the action. Seriously.
It's a BEAUTIFUl thing to see if you like extreme fighting action.
Do NOT miss this! :D
Note: the full-lenght movie came out a while ago. And in my opinion it doesn't compare to the original 5 episode anime, but it's still nice to watch.
Note2: and now the game for the PS3 came out. From what I heard it's no major win, but it isn't bad at all. Check it out if you own a PS3. ^^
This anime is an EXTREME WIN, if I do say so myself. ^^

I enjoyed it. This anime has helped some of my friends come over to the "dark side" and become otakus like me. Samuel L Jackson talks crazy like he always does (not a bad thing).

Dude, Afro Samurai was so epic when it came out. I truly am surprized noone made a thread before you.
But as previously said, its only 5 episodes, so its worth a watch.

Not a real fan of the series and the main hero was very unlikeable for me. The teddy guy on the other hand would have made for an interesting hero in my opinion.
I didn't like the setting of the series as well but maybe thats just me...

Afro Samurai kicks ass. Really liked the characters and the setting, but the story was a bit meh IMO.
The soundtrack that came with the DVD is awesome, too :P
Personally, I think Afro Samurai (1st season) was WAY too short. They could have fleshed out the characters a bit more, like the Empty Seven :?

I don't really know how I feel about this anime. Time eras seem to clash.
"This shit is bananas!" :?
It's totally awesome fight scene wise. Though the ebonics in a Japanese setting with feudal era scenery but high technology.
Did anyone notice their sandals too? Generally sandals have wood on the bottom, I always wondered how their feet must have felt, especially between their big toes. But in this anime it looks like instead of wood, it's cushioned with some flotation thing.

I think it's one of the reasons Afro Samurai is as awesome as it is. Cell phones, cyborgs, RPGs and Afrodroid in a feudal era setting? I totally dig that.

If someone knows where I can get a pair of those, please tell me.

Nothin I didn't really like would ever grace my avatar.
Hard to acknowledge it as a pure-blooded anime though...
