Lol after nearly a year without a single post, i'll bring this back up. Seeing how NA will probably get a beta by the end of the year.

The closed beta is currently in it's first weekend of 5, until the open beta on April 18th, then the release at the end of April.
Has anyone else been playing? I pre-ordered the game, so have access to this and all upcoming closed betas(every other weekend)... thus, been playing it most of this weekend.
It's not bad. Not like most Korean MMOs requiring shit-tons of grinding, but more using the excuse of quests to get you to grind.
The most notable difference is the combat. You aim with cross-hairs in the center of the screen, and use abilities. There is no auto-attack, but every class gets a basic attack(swing sword(s) combo, shoot arrow, cast fireball. . .) which replenishes your mana used by your abilities.
So a lot more immersive, you actually have to aim your skills at mobs, and faster paced. Abilities have cooldowns, but fewer casttimes.
As far as looks go, it looks really bloody good imo, and not too power hungry so long as your computer is reasonably up to date.
I hear there are end game Raids, Battlegrounds, and World bosses, but I'm not sure as to how much there really is to encourage me to make it there... That's the very reason I dropped Aion.
Though still, there's enough variation in Tera to make me interested. A lot of good ideas from other MMOs smushed into this one, but in a way it looks and feels like Tera, not like 'MMO X' -- which I do like.
I only have a level 15 now, and 3 other classes at level 7. The cap is 26 in the closed beta, and like 50 in retail. So a long ways to go, and the world looks pretty big.
Sadly, I'll have to wait to continue my testing until CB #2. This one is almost over.
Being I pre-ordered, I do get to keep my characters up to the open beta.

I'm a bit surprised there aren't many posts in here. I've tried the beta out along with a friend and we totally loved it.
I mean, Elins should be enough a reason to buy the game.
Game's out in a few weeks.

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
I've gotten a Warrior to the beta cap. I didn't want to pre-order in case I didn't like the game, but I'm going to now for sure. It's a refreshing change from the tab-target mash skills to win MMOs I'm used to.
And yes, the Elin are fucking adorable, but really, I need to be prepared to hand in my man card when I roll one...cause I will.

It is a really entertaining MMO, I'm a tank myself and I'm enjoying every moment of it.

I've gotten Tera just before release and I am enjoying the game very much. Partially because I can actually enjoy the use of a controller over keyboard (so I can just chill and game away). I never was fond of MMOs but Tera was a good recommendation I got from my friend. Parties are fun yet you can always make progress even when soloing with quests.
Currently have a Warrior (more like Assassin) as my main and enjoy the dodging mechanics.

I was thinking about getting this game, but I have a few questions about it. Is this a pay to play game? Would I have to pay a monthly subscription in order to keep playing it? Is the game worth buying?

They have a 7 day trial version out (level 23 cap) if you want to try it before you buy it.

There's a trial download hidden around there somewhere. I know because I downloaded the trial last week.

This game is pretty fun. After playing RO for almost 4 years during my high school and college years, Tera seems to be a good substitute to replace that endless MMO fix I use to have. I'm on the RP server and using the trial account for now. Since it's the trial account I can't chat T_T or trade items.
