DearS

Well I looked in the masterlist and this anime wasn't in it........so I'll make a thread for it. :)
Quoted from the dvd box. Yes, I bought the dvd box.
I personally thought that it was a pretty decent ecchi show, nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary or "OMFG BEST ANIME EVER MADE!", but in terms of ecchi shows this one was pretty good and I thought it had a good ending, which is something that doesn't always happen with these genres of animes (least, not the ones I watched). Another very good reason to watch this show is Ren
That is one hot piece of alien ass :D
Err...*ahem*, anyways, anyone else watched this? Liked/hated it? I'm sure any fans of ecchi animes will like this, I mean, wouldn't you like to have a girl who calls you master and claims to be your slave? Eh? ;D
One year ago an alien spacecraft crashed into Tokyo Bay. With no means to return, the aliens obtain Japanese citizenship and begin a home-stay program with regular families and schools. They are given the name "DearS", meaning "beloved friend".
However, Takeya, an opinionated teen, doesn't trust the aliens one bit. But when Takeya encounters a mysterious girl who is cold, hungry and wrapped only in a blanket, he takes pity on her. As he brings her home to take care of her, he finds that she is quite possibly one of the DearS. Add an alien cat-girl, an over-sexed teacher, and the fact that this DearS considers Takeya her master, life is beginning to become a little more then he can handle.

This one of the first ecchi manga's I've read. My sister was collecting them. Spoiler:
Sadly I've never read the manga, but to answer you, no.
There's also a ps2 ecchi game of it.

This show was too short. It ended before it even really got started. It would've been a total waste of time if not for Ren. She's a good enough reason to watch it.

But really, where could this show have gone with the story it had? I talked about this with a friend on You tube.

I read how the manga ended and there seemed to be plenty of stuff for a second season.

the pic looks much better than the crap quality rips available when i watched the series. It's hearing things like that, that make me glad I bought the dvd's. I've also had trouble finding jap dub with eng sub version to stream online. I've heard the eng dubbed version on You tube and god...it's horrible. (as expected from eng dubs...but still...@_@)

I don't know the official story, but I think it's a good guess that the reason why there wasn't (and never will be) a 2nd season is lack of success; not enough people watching it/buying the dvd's I guess. Which led them to completing the anime with 13 episodes and imo a pretty decent ending.

The manga volumes go into much more details of the characters than the show ever does. It really does end short.
I remember when DearS was first put into tankoubon in Japan. I got the first five volumes in Japanese (still have them around) and then grabbed the TokyoPop translations as they were released. Not a lot of difference between them really.

The anime was a good adaptation of the parts of the manga it covers. It really ended at the best possible place, considering the limited number of episodes.

Watched in one afternoon and it was too damn short. I didn't even realise I was watching the last episode until
Though the series had its moments, the neko DearS creeped me out a bit.
