I'm pretty sure I posted this in an earlier topic about the movie, but I'll say that I am one of the many who is disappointed in the casting choices: Caucasian=hero; color=villain, extras. In short, it is whitewashing and a revival of yellowface productions.
Though I don't participate in these two sites, I check them a few times a week for news:
Aang aint white
Racebending
In regards to watching it, I will [online] but not in theaters. I will not help these a-holes profit from their bigotry.

I will watch it with a hope that it won't suck. I think the hope will be in vain. Hopefully they'll have some cool special effects so that you can enjoy watching it with a simple state of mind going "duuhuhuexplosionshuhuwindbendingduh".

It'll probably suck. They'll change it in so many horrifying ways that they see fit to become a fuck-up piece of shit-film but I can't get too mad at it. Main and only reason: It's made of 100% American-anime(the most horrifying form that look like anime).

like the series and enjoy Shyamalan's films.
that said, im probably not going to see the movie.
turning a series int a film rarely turns out the way you want regardless who works on it.

The only way I'll probably ever see the movie is if it's on TV or a friend has it or something, but I really hope it does well. Because if it does well, that may mean a continuation of the show, which deserved more than it got.

It either agrees to a recast or must starve (do as badly or worse than the DBZ live action film).

I've heard that it's expected to be a trilogy, which makes sense. There's a lot of story to tell.
I don't care at all about the cast. So the actors are white. Big deal. Hollywood's racist. 21 proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt. (Most of the characters were Asian in real life.) Besides that, the show doesn't exactly say, "These characters are Asian/Inuits." A lot of stuff is based on Asian culture, but that doesn't mean that the characters are expected to be Asian.

It is suppose to be a trilogy, as there are three "books."
21 was also protested, but I was unfamiliar with the original story so learned of it late (still don't know what it is).
The creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender have said on several occasions what the show's story and characters were inspired by.
Nickelodeon wanted to make a “legends & lore” type of show with a kid hero. That’s a genre we are very interested in, but we wanted to create a mythology that was based on Eastern culture, rather than Western culture.
Although “Avatar” isn’t based on a specific Asian myth, we were inspired by Asian mythology, as well as Kung Fu, Yoga, and Eastern Philosophy. We were also inspired by Anime in general. We wanted to create a story that inspired people’s imaginations and that had elements of comedy, drama, and action.”
Even Nickelodeon knew what the show was about:
“AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, is a truly unique comic adventure with rich animation and incredible martial-arts choreography,” said Marjorie Cohn, evp, development and original programming, Nickelodeon. “Creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino designed a fantastical Asian world with compelling characters and interesting creatures that will capture kids’ imaginations and spirit.”
sourceAre you honestly telling me, that even despite the source of the shows inspiration, you cannot see that Katara and Sokka are not white (just for example)?
I'm not as pissed as the people who made this site or those who go out and protest, but it still angers me as a fan.

I can understand being upset about it, but being upset isn't going to do any good. Plus, as a fan, I'm more upset that they wanted to make a live-action version at all. But that's America - everything remotely popular has to become a movie, and Asians are only good for costars (as long as they either use crazy martial arts or are funny).
I think I lost my will to complain and fight after I saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. So much was wrong with it, and there was nothing to be done. It was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I'm liking the CG for the bending so far. Can't wait to see this.
"The Avatar fights the Fire Nation after being unfrozen for a hundred years thinking that they started teh war but in the end he was the one started teh war because of alien invaders! What a twist!"
Seriously M.Shama better not throw in a twist in teh movie.
