[Anime] History`s Strongest Disciple Kenichi

Anyone watch this anime?? If you haven't watch it! It's the greatest martial arts anime I've seen in a long while, and it has great comedy in it.


Anime News Network Summary: Shirahama Kenichi is an average student who has earned the nickname "Weak Legs" from always getting bullied. One day he meets a cute girl named Furinji Miu who helps him build the courage to begin training at a mysterious dojo where she lives. Here Kenichi faces intense training from masters of many different martial arts styles as he attempts to become stronger.

I saw all of Kenichi earlier this year, and I unexpectedly really really liked this series. The art style is nothing to rave about, but the characters are very good (Hermit having Vegeta's voice = badass).

Memo to the FAKKU admins: Miu should have been in this year's Mote Mote battle!

This is an anime that I enjoyed watching very much, from start to finish (even though the ending of the anime was rushed and rather abrupt). There were also many moments where I couldn't stop myself from laughing. =)

This is probably the best pure martial arts anime that I've seen in terms of pure enjoyment. Seeing Kenichi go from a wimp to the History's Strongest Disciple was very entertaining.

Overall, I highly recommend this series. The characters, story, voice-acting, music, humor, and action are all very solid.

btw, Ma Kensei is the History's Strongest Pervert! LoL

any1 know when sesong 2 is coming out i cant wait O_O

I wasn't even aware they were doing a second season; would be nice though. They should have enough material for at least another 24 episodes or so...

the manga is out(and they still make) but idk when the sesong 2 is coming :?

There's nothing left for me to say cause everything he said is just about what I had in mind. He only forgot to mention anything about mai waifu though. Ma RENKA FTW! (I do agree with her father being "History's Strongest Pervert!") :lol:

Too bad that the producers had to cut it short (50eps) most likely due to its unpopularity, and was probably one of the most underrated series ever made. BUT as far as I'm concerned, this series was awesome in every aspect and was undoubtedly the funniest "action/martial-arts" genre I've ever seen. I highly recommend this series as well.

It's always good to look forward to a possible sequel but so far, all talks about the possibility of a second season or OVA even, are nothing but mere speculations.

We had a thread here awhile ago which talked about it although it might have been nothing more than Funimation's acquirement of license for distribution; dividing the series into two parts wherein the first 25eps would be labeled as season 1 and the remainder as season 2. (who knows?) :roll: - just don't get your hope up for it.

The anime is good, i'll tell you that. But seriously, instead of watching the anime, just read the MANGA. The Anime just left out a lot of things from the manga (mostly comedic scenes). But I just watch the anime just to see how they fight, so.... yeah. In other words:

i thought it was hilarious and pretty damn awesome in every other respect. it would hav been nice if kenichi got a bit further with miu tho, but her skin-tight suit made up for that :D

EDIT: on wkipedia it says that season 2 will start airing in july 09

Well, I didn't hear anything about that season 2 actually happening.

The original was great. Brought back many old school anime feelings.

This is a great anime and even if I dont have much athority on the matter I would recomend every person in america with access to a computer or tv should watch this if they like comedie and action!
It would be a great waste of 20 hours. 24min x50eps =1200min/60=20hrs.

i know there is an ova series in the works or out anyone have any other info on it?

Confirmed, I have at least downloaded 2 or 3 of em (not sure if thats it or if there is more). But sad news one of the voice actresses passed away so a new voice has been added to Miu. :(

Watched the anime about 5 years ago, decided to pick the manga and start over since the beggining.

Very underrated if you ask me. Miu is adorable, especially after she lets her hair down.
