House of Five Leaves (Sarai-ya Goyou)

Adapted from Natsume Ono's (who also created Ristorante Paradiso) manga of the same name -- Akitsu Masanosuke is a timid ronin on his way to Edo from the countryside when he accidentally encounters a playboy named Yaichi, who asks him to be his bodyguard. But it turns out that Yaichi is actually the leader of a group of bandits called the "Five Leaves," and he's hoping that Masanosuke will join them. Masanosuke is reluctant to help them, but as grows closer to his eccentric new companions, he learns to relate to them and grow as a person in the process.

This video infuriates me.
What looks to be a dark and gloomy series is being accompanied by some tokyo candy-pop bullshit and I'm just confused as to how such a blunder could occur.
If the series isn't dark and gloomy as the animation implies and is actually bright and cheerful as the tokyo candy-pop bullshit implies the series will be shit.
I am praying this was merely a blunder and the music holds no relation to the tone of the series.
I could of course check the manga and all this would be answered but doing so would ruin the series for me and I won't allow that.

Everyone’s a critic and you’re apparently one of the best wannabe there is, I get that. But is there really is no teaching an old dog new tricks?
Here boy, fetch!
Good boy!

This looks pretty interesting, seems to have a nice unique style. Defiantly going to be watching this.
I also loved the music used in the video as well, the tone may of been gloomy but for me the music fitted well, so maybe a i have a brain tumor or something.

I forgot to add how this latest trailer has gotten me really pumped for the series. April 15th is so far away!
While this isn't my cup of tea, I check out the manga, I still think the series will be enjoyable!
Who says you can't teach an old dog a new trick?

PS: To clarify: Hermit has always been MAD! Not as in furious or angry MAD but MAD as in insane; deranged.

Anyway, I wasn't interested in this anime initially, but checking into more, it might be suited for me.

Used to do stuff
Just got done watching episode one of this. Was pretty interesting. It's nice to see a different art style than every other anime. It's really refreshing. Really cool how every tree looks different instead of the normal anime landscape. That really caught my eye when watching this.
It's one of those stories where there is more to it than meets the eye. Although I don't they can keep it alive just based on kidnapping. Who knows where this is going to go. Probably going to go in over their head or something.

Tears...
Its an unfamiliar sensation.

As I was searching for a stream for Arakawa UB, I see on the related videos, House of Five Leaves. It can't be an actual episode of the series though.
This, this blessing can't be upon me yet. No, this must be a trailer or better yet a video saying, "Check on May 15th."
Not an actual episode, heavens no. I shall satisfy my curiosity though. I shall see this new trailer if anything.
The video begins with a familiar tune. This must be some kind of gag. Not even a new trailer, just some sick joke far worse than any Rick Roll'.
I skip ahead but the video keeps me from doing so.
I give into the reality that this is the first episode. I give into the reality that this blessing had finally come upon me.
I give into the reality that something decent has just been posted on the internet.
Now typically I would make comments as I was watching but I can't bring myself to do so with a series such as this. I may very well not comment on the episode at all. This episode was great. I found myself tearing up over how superior it was to the trash thats been released as of late.
I do have my doubts for the series though. I can't see them doing much and I can see it getting boring and repetitive rather quickly.

Integrating a mundane storyline with an animation that is worthy of all kinds of praises doesn’t seem to be a bad idea after all. It was just kinda hard to tell from how the first episode went if their thieving ways would lead to more action, drama/tragedy, romance, talking/contemplating (contemplating is good) or whatnot but all in all, it's caught my attention real tight. It’s not so often that I get to watch animes like this (considering noitamina only had half an hour on Thursdays until just recently).
Speaking of which, there’s just one more series left to see (in the current season) and not only is it animated by one of (if not) the most prolific animation studio in the business, it is also the better half of 'Sarai-ya Goyou' in noitamina’s recently extended block. Too perfect a combination, if I must say.

Since I love this series I've decided to contribute to some form of discussion.
Akitsu was apparently "discharged" by his Lord. That being said, he must have proven himself worthy at one point or another or have been some kind of noblemen's son.
Its possible that his families nobility was severed and is now poor which would explain how Akitsu is so skilled, he received the proper training prior to his families collapse, and why he sent the money he got from Yaichi to them.
Its also completely possible that his family are mere farmers and whatnot for this is just wild speculation.
Another side of the coin may be that he was this renowned samurai for sometime but some sort of accident occurred which left him the timid man he is now.
Regardless, I'm enjoying this series even though theres only been one episode.
Of course the manga has already answered all of these questions but its more enjoyable to widely speculate.

And I meant to ask this sooner, just didn't get the chance until now...
Am I loved because I am MAD? or am I loved because of my honesty in admitting that I am-- MAD?
The OP song, I know, I've said to be lovely before but I haven't said the same pertaining to its sequence yet. Likewise, I haven't said anything concerning the ED so... as the song's title suggests, "all i need is..." a total of 4 series to get by this year's spring, and that this series is one of those 4.
