[Anime] Hyakka Ryoran (2nd Season Announced)

Looking back, Ikkitousen and Koihime Musou have done a good job at raising the popularity of "The Three Kingdoms". Although Queen's Blade was criticized by some for its lack of a decent storyline, the anime series still managed to attract viewers, possibly through its blatant fanservice (which I enjoyed).

Coming up next would be Hyakka Ryoran, featuring samurai girls. Although no fixed date has been set for the airing of said anime, I believe it wouldn't fare too badly, given the beautiful artwork I have seen so far. For avid collectors of figurines, I am sure some of you may have come across PVC figures of the female characters from Hyakka Ryoran - one cannot deny that they were wonderfully made.

To tell the truth, I don't know much about its storyline, especially since I am unable to read Japanese very well, but something tells me there will be ecchi fanservice involved.

As long as there is somewhat a story, I can enjoy this to an extend, I did enjoy Koihime Musou, thou Queen's Blade lack of anything but fanservice made it something I could care less about, just please I hope this has some kind of story.

Now that the Fall 2010 Preview image has re-surfaced, I thought it might be appropriate to bump my Hyakka Ryoran thread a little.

In any case, I revisited http://www.hyakka-ryoran.tv/ and realized that it has been updated quite a bit. There should be quite a bit of action and fanservice, based on what I have seen on the website.

Already, I am looking forward to the Blu-ray and DVDs. :D

KInda disappointed this will be a fan-service show, the designs for the characters look really good, ah well, good things may still come from this.

First episode raw came out. Just watched it...wow..its pretty awesome.

Wow, I had no idea that it was coming out this early! Was it a pre-release episode, like with what Working and Kiss X Sis did?

Honestly hearing the lovely Kugimiya, I am already committed to watching this series to it's entirety. I love her character, Sanada Saemonnosuke Yukimura. All the typical tsundere ness that makes me love her.

I definitely agree with you about the story. Not much is known after the first episode, but it already has me hooked. The art style was a delicious treat for my eyes, and I enjoyed both the OP and ED. I also agree with you that the censoring was clever as well, but I wonder if this will also run on AT-X/uncensored. Guess we'll have to wait til later this month to find out. I, too, was surprised by both the opening and ending songs appearing, and I'm almost certain that they will be the same. Why would they blow their budget on an pre-screening, ya know?



So, overall good first impression, and I'm eager for more.

I haven't got around to watching the pre-airing episode, but for those of you who have, can I assume that it is going to be a lot better than Queen's Blade, in terms of both storyline and ecchi fanservice? After all, Hyakka Ryoran is also from Hobby Japan, just like Queen's Blade.

Hopefully, AT-X would air the uncensored episodes.

Well I honestly didn't watch Queen's Blade after seeing the pre-airing, I dropped it and avoided it, for this series, I can't wait to see more having seen the pre-air. So I can confidently say (IMO) this will be a lot better. ^^

indeed, but there aren't enough words to describe her, btw, anyone know where I can find the Sanada figure? I can't seem to find it, all I find are Jubei, and some of the other girls. I want my loli tsundere Sanada~!!!

Just done watching the pre-air, and Lamz0r is very much pleased.

Sanada won my heart the second she spoke, dat Louise voice. Also, OP and ED are both great songs, though I enjoyed OP a bit more.

Animation looks great, reminds me of Bakemonogatari/Zetsubou-sensei a bit, which is very much to my liking.

Just one thing is bugging me though, is this supposed to be like Ikkitousen or Koihime Musou? With the fact that it's packed with actual historical names, I'm curious if it's going to be some sort of rephrasing real events, or if the similarity ends with names (maybe locations).

Yea this kinda is like those anime series, it reminds me of koihime/Ikki due to the historical names, but its a lot more appealing visually, (Koihime wasn't appealing enough, it was cutesy ecchi, and Ikki only a select few characters got me, you know~) and its blatantly trying to be as ecchi as Queens blade was, so it's kinda like a nice combo of them all, thought future episode will either back up my claim or disprove it.

If it's really going to be an ecchi historical replay, I seriously hope it doesn't end up like Ikki (a.k.a. WTF? THIS HENTAIZ HAZ A PLOT?) or Koihime (which was imo plain boring, I dropped that after 2 episodes ._. )
But heck, I even like the censor in this show, the ink stains are a nice change.

Just watched it, I think it's great =D. I can't wait for the actual air of it.

Good action, good fan-service >=3, and favorable characters, such as Sanada Yukimura! xD delicious flat chestted loli with Rie Kugimiya as a voice actor =3. Not to sure on the story yet, but it seems like it'll be a good one.

that's great, the more the better haha, yea I am not sure of the story either, but it's not that big an issue right now haha
