Conversion of MKV files to MP4 files?

TMPGEnc is very good cause: can be upgrade with certain files to convert any type of file to any other one and it supports multicore CPUs.

WinAVI is the best. It can handle anything, even gifs. It can also put soft subs (.srt .ass etc) on the output file.

I have downloaded Code Geass R1 yesterday, and I have problem with converting the video.
When I try to convert the .mkv files to .mp4, I am unable to see the subtitles in the mp4 files.
Does anyone know what I should do to convert .mkv files to .mp4 with subtitles?

Many programs offer conversion.but sometimes they leave out subtitles from the final product. I personally use ConvertXtoDVD to convert mkv files into dvds though theres also iWisoft Free Video Converter. Its free but from my use of it it leaves subtitles out you can try that one as its free.

The wonderful, multi-purpose SUPER converter also has it covered, though I've never converted to PSP MP4 myself.

Hey guys, I'm new here although I've lurked for quite some time. I still haven't settled with what topic is supposed to be in each sub-board, so bear with me if this is in the wrong place.
Now that's settled, can someone please recommend me what they would consider the best converter for video files? Specifically I'm looking to convert anime to .mp4 so I can play it on my Apple products, being the picky players they are, only play .mp4. Currently I've used Any Video Converter Professional but it really butchers the quality and resizes the file too much, though that's sort of useful...
Also another problem that I have is that the anime I have has both subs and dubs, however we all know (at least I hope) that dubs are stupid. When I convert the file it automatically sets it to play dubs, and I can't change that in .mp4 form when played on my iPhone, as I can only do that with VLC, CCCP's player, ect. Is there any way to make files automatically set to play subs? And Japanese audio.
Thank you~

Handbrake has ipod, iphone ,and other crapple products settings built in. You might have to set the subs to default and burn in for the subs to play on the apple stuff. Most players don't have a dual audio setting or the advantages of doing so. Pspvc does the same but you might no like the idea of rez misplace off ipad structure.

I use Format Factory, its pretty decent but the quality can drop a bit but not unbearable to watch. It also does MP3 files if you want to convert 320kbps songs to 226 or 128 etc...

As for that what I use is Xilisoft. It great and all, but i haven't tried to convert any anime with sub into mp4 for iPod. Also correct me if I'm wrong, when you converting the video to other format the sub is there but the font size change to horribly small or something making it not visible.

Thank you, animefreak.
The program allows you to set what audio/subtitle you want to play, then converts the file. Really really convenient compared to using MKVmerge to set up every single file...
Question though, how do I implement subtitles? The drop list of tracks in the subtitles menu list an English, so do I add it? Then do I make it forced, burned in or default?
Thank you for all other solutions! I will definitely be sure to look back at them in case the current program I'm using ever decides to poop out on me.

i been using handbreak to convert Hi10p mkv videos on my ps3 since the last program i used (avidemux 2.5) made Hi10P mkv videos look like crap ever since most anime subbers updated on releasing 10 bit mkv videos

HandBrake, all the way. It's easy-to-use, and gets the job done. Although it will accept almost any video file as input, even a DVD file structure, it will only encode to MPEG-4 or H.264. Not a problem, as most devices support at least one of the two.
If you need broader encoding support, check out SUPER, as others have noted.
