Yozakura Quartet: Hoshi no Umi
0
Summary from AniDB:
Akina, Hime, Kotoha, and Ao are four members of the Hiizumi Seikatsu Soudan Jimusho (Hiizumi's Everyday-life Consultation Office), which, in addition to helping kindergarteners deal with tough times, strives to preserve the peace of their little town, Sakurashin, by hunting down the troublemakers who dare threaten it.
Hime is a superheroine. Ao can read minds. Kotoha can conjure up anything with the right word. And Akina…well, he's just a regular guy, surrounded by three supergirls! Together, they protect the town of Sakurashin. But that's not easy, as the town faces demon dogs and other supernatural threats!
Just caught the first episode and it was pretty interesting. Mind you I never actually saw the original 12-ep series, but this OVA is supposed to be same thing except that follows the manga instead of going off and doing it's own thing.
People like me who don't know what the series is about are kinda just thrust into the story with little explanation of both the setting and characters, but we can still get a general sense as to what's going on.
So is anyone else watching this?

I just came across it while browsing some of the sites I usually stream from. Here is one version of it.
I really don't know if it actually deviates from the manga or not since I haven't actually read the manga. But according to AniDB "The new anime will be a reset from the earlier television anime series, and that it will completely follow the original manga (unlike the television version)."

While the television anime did go off base a bit from the manga, this OAD release really felt like a sequel to it (that's how I see it anyway), and it felt really nice. What made it even better was that they brought back the original voice cast, cranked up the animation value, and essentially made it feel fresh and exciting again.
I had some issues watching it at first as I was a bit confused on whether or not the voices fit (ended up looking up the seiyuu list and found out it was the same people). This was probably from the change of animation as I had to readjust a bit on their character design (Hime looks less tsun tsun :< ).
Despite this though, the first episode rekindled my love for this series. Can't wait to see what's in store on the next episode.
