IS: Infinite Stratos (OVA Released on 07 Dec 2011)
1
Scheduled to air in the winter season of 2010, the storyline of IS: Infinite Stratos is one whereby Japan has developed mecha-like weapons called "Infinite Stratos". These weapons can only be operated by females, causing a change in society, whereby females dominate... at least until the appearance of the male protagonist, Orimura Ichika. He is found to be the only man (or boy) who can operate the Infinite Stratos. As luck would have it, he begins his training surrounded by females.
From what I have seen in both trailers, available on the official anime website, fanservice will definitely be present in this particular title. However, what caught my attention were the fight scenes between the various Infinite Stratos. They appeared to be rather well done and I hope this continues to be the case in the actual airing of episodes. For some reason, IS: Infinite Stratos reminds me of Chrome Shelled Regios, just that the former falls under the mecha genre at first glance.

Not forgetting the official anime website, where one can view the character designs, trailers and obtain more information about the title:

Got Megane?
*Absolutely knows nothing about this series*
Well, the premise seems like enough to make me watch an episode or two, while the look of it makes me want to watch the whole series. So thanks for pointing this one out for us all.

Thanks for posting up the information/website for this. I read the description of Infinite Stratos a little while ago, and wasn't sure what to make of it, but the trailer looked solid, and the action scenes looked better than expected. I'll be giving this a try now.

I agree with twilight. I normally dont give series a chance when it appears that the harem is more important than the story/action. however after seeing the trailer I will definately watch at least a few episodes. Also I can't deny it, I really like the character designs. 8)

I'm looking forward to this, it's my eye-candy pick for the winter season. The protagonist isn't really to my liking but I'm always up for seeing boobs, mecha and well-done fight scenes in the same series.

Curious and Wondering
Quite interesting... the other forums I've been frequenting has this one buzzing all over their anime sections.
I think this will be very interesting, with a generous amount of fanservice which I will like very much coupled with nice well-drawn fight scenes... might as well be the "anime I download first" series in my upcoming download list (currently, it's "Fortune Arterial").
And with that, fiddle fiddle until January :)

this anime reminds me of what my friend on vent said
"an older character version of strike witches"
he kinda does have a point except the fact there is a guy character xD.

The Reason why? If an IS exist in our world and it's banned to be use by the military, it's got to be the UN.

One thing I hate about this anime,
Is people thinking it's bad just because "it's not original".

The UN have no actual authoritarian power i'm afraid.
And i watched the first episode, apart from eye candy i don't feel like the series has anything going for it. Will still follow but its failed to meet my expectations so far.
Houki is also a bad tsundere

...My bad on the first one. I saw what I thought I saw and my brain refused to adjust.
Regarding the second...I don't know. It just seemed to me that some country or organization would get their hands on them and use them as a military unit. Having some knowledge of fighter jets, I can assure you that an IS would be unmatched in the air (though I'm not taking into consideration how much fighter jets would have improved at this point). You'd have to keep SOME of them for military use if only to deter others from using them.
Oh, and I completely and utterly agree with you about people judging this anime negatively for not being original. I judge each anime by its own merits, independent of others even in its own genre (unless it's a prequel or sequel, for obvious reasons). And that argument doesn't even make much sense for this one. Yes, it's a harem. So is Clannad, which seems to be one of the more popular anime ever.
Also, IS so far is rather unique in that a mecha with such obvious military potential is banned from the military.
