Assuming Tales of the Abyss gets a U.S. release as well as Ocarina of Time, I will definitely pick up a 3DS with this game.

I'm also tempted to get this when it hits U.S. shores but with the battery life of the 3ds, I think it's wise to wait until they upgrade their handheld to have like say 10 hours of battery life. 3-4 hours feels very short.

considering the track record of tales games released on handhelds making it overseas besides the psp I won't hold my breath on this making it to the states OR europe...which kills me because this is my favorite tales game of all time...if they finally answer the questions left over from the anime ,and the original game I'll buy a freaking japanese 3ds to play it...I wanted a purple one anyway >_

Hellz Yeah Im getting that but like shinji said there might not be a US or EU release anytime in the near future like they did with all the remakes up to this point but i know it better since we way past due for another Tales anyway so even if it will most doubtfully be a failed attemp Im still crossing my fingers.

For one, anything to increase the popularity of the 3DS in either Japan or in other countries will be looked at closely and that includes JRPG remakes of popular games. Which brings me to my second point, Tales of the Abyss met with mostly critical success even in the United States and PAL territories.
I could be wrong, but I think it is safe to assume that Tales of the Abyss 3DS has a better chance for an international release than many other recent handheld Tales games.

They should have just named the console Nintendo R3tro. All i seen so far are remakes and nothing new....well maybe something new but, let's be serious here...
On Topic: i would rather get Tales of Destiny 2 localization over this drama.

Oh yeah, ToA finally gets a remake for the 3DS! Now I shall buy a 3DS to get this game and Ocarina of Time as well. ...I get the feeling Namco will stall on releasing the game in North America, just like the rest of the Tale's games (Still wants the ToV PS3 version)

Wow, wasn't expecting to see this on 3DS, but sounds good. Already played it on the PS2, so unless they are some new features and what-not, I will decline it.

True. It would definitely be nicer to see a title that hasn't previously been localized, but I'll certainly take Abyss. Abyss is the favorite Tales games of a lot of fans.

I'm pretty sure you're mistaken it for ToSymphonia since i heard much better feedback on that one. For me 3d tales games are just slow and boring.

I didn't say it was the most popular. Symphonia is the highest selling Tales game of the franchise, but Abyss is still considered the favorite amongst many Tales fans.

Symphonia  is overrated..It's like the FF7 of the Tales world...Fantastic game ,but not the "GREATESE GAME EVAR OMG HJAJHGDJH"  , honestly Abyss was just a better game overall for me.

Hard to disagree. I enjoyed Symphonia, but I found most of the later games more enjoyable.
The again, I'm one of the few that really enjoys Legendia despite it being the black sheep of the family.

Is the battle system for symphonia like the fl-lmbs for Tales of the abyss or they're different?

Not exactly. Tales of Symphonia uses a Multi-line Linear Motion Battle System (ML-LMBS). There is no free running control. You attack on a line, but the line has full 360 degrees of maneuverability. It's pretty much the grandfather of the free-running battle systems of most post-Abyss games.
It's actually hard to describe. Just think of one of the classic LMBS titles like Phantasia or Destiny, but on a 3D plane where there would be multiple lines on the field.
