Nichijou

There are slice of life options this season, the first of which is about “everyday life” that is everything but normal. At least, that’s what the inclusion of a talking cat named Sakamoto-san (Shiraishi Minoru) and a robotic high school student named Shinonome Nano (Furuya Shizuka) suggests, the latter of whom her nameless creator (Konno Hiromi) loves tinkering with in completely pointless ways. They’re not even the main characters of the story either, as we have the energetic yet idiotic Aioi Yuuko (Honda Mariko) along with her friends Naganohara Mio (Aizawa Mai) and Minakami Mai (Togashi Misuzu) of Tokisadame High for that. Lighthearted laughs are the main appeal once all the characters unique personalities mesh together.

This is one of my most anticipated shows this season, but of course, for a completely different reason compared to shows like C and Deadman Wonderland. KyoAni has demonstrated time and again that any adaptation they do will end up being better than the original source material, and they can pick up a work no one has known beforehand and push it to skyrocketing fame - see Haruhi, Lucky Star and K-ON.

My expectations were quite high for a comedy 4koma from KyoAni, and this episode didn't disappoint. This show is so freakin- random, but it did make to laugh. What surprised me was that I'd expect this type of humor from SHAFT more than KyoAni. To be honest, this feels like a SHAFT show, but with KyoAni-quality animation.

And the OP. KyoAni just out-SHAFTed SHAFT in the OP. I keep getting the feeling KyoAni is just trying to troll SHAFT...xD

I was eying this anime for a while. i'll try to watch it when the series is completed. :D

First episode is out and already subbed.

Saw it on CR the other day. LOL, slice of life is right.

So there's obviously no real plot, but I found it pretty funny. Looks like I'll keep watching this one.

Robot girl, shy teacher, mohawk kid? Random scene named after a typeface? Selamat pagi?



And it looks like CR upgraded their subtitling system a bit.

Just watched it today. I loled so much. It's very cute show for all it's worth and a lot of characters vareity. I like the Meganekko, Mai so far. I'm going to keep watching this.

btw: One of the characters looks like Keima Katsuragi from the World God Only Knows XD

This first episode had me laughing many times, I hope that it continues to do so.

This show is great so far. A little random, but if they do that right it'll be great too. And its KyoAni so I expect only good work!

The cat is my favorite so far, with Hakase-chan as #2.

when i watched it(haven't read the manga yet),i was like "huh? why do i hear good morning and good night in my language? something's must've been wrong with my head".
and yes....what an "ordinary" life of high school.lol.

I posted in that one because it was the only link given in the master list. I figured why create a new thread for something the ova already got.

This show is effing ridiculous and I love it so much. Always good to get an awesome comedy to water down all the ecchi, fan-service animes I constantly watch.

Hakase is the only reason to watch this show.

I like 4koma adaptions, Nichijou is no exception. I look forward to the rest of the season. It is very fast paced, but not in a bad way.

You're missing the part where you say "It's nothing like a Shaft OP". Multiple zoom-ins do not make a Shaft OP. To think you would say this near the eve of Maria Holic Alive ...

That aside, this looks to be a very nicely animated, comedic, little series as of episode 1.

I did get SHAFT vibes from the OP though, and seriously, I said this days before Maria Holic Alive started airing.

Which is why I said vaguely "near". Anyway, there were like two points in the Nichijo OP that felt like Shaft, and only because those points were crazy. Compared to the Despair, Hidamari, Bakemonogatari, Maria Holic, Madoka, etc. OPs, I'm not finding much in terms of similarities elsewhere. That's all.

Episode 2. This is the funniest shit I've seen since the invention of humor in 1921.

Also, was that the Katanagatari narrator at the end? She turns me on.
