The sequel to Kaiji, THE anime of gambling had its first episode released just recently. I didn't see a thread after searching a bit so here it is.
Quoted from RandomC:
What a surreal feeling it is to be watching Kaiji again. Three years have passed since the first season ended inconclusively, but the feeling hasn’t changed. It’s still awesome.
Kaiji is a psychological “warfare” anime, in vein to Death Note, but more similar to Liar Game, a very well done manga that I recommend reading if you’re already into this genre. In a sentence, Kaiji landed himself in debt, got caught up in a series of life-threatening games where he was given the chance to gamble back his debt, failed and lost, and now we’re at season two. I don’t think there’s anyone that can’t enjoy a good struggle of intelligence and wit, and if you’re worrying about not wanting to think too much, the show explains most of it for you anyway. Though, in terms of cleverness, Kaiji is not as high as Liar Game nor Death Note, but it remains quite enjoyable (partly because it’s actually being animated).
Gotta agree with the statement in bold, Kaiji IS addicting.
First episode got me all excited again and it's frightening how truthful it depicts real life.

Everyone watch this anime. It is da best. This anime is so exciting, even with the drawn out plots, it stays exciting since you never know if things will turn out well for Kaiji. I am addicted to this show.

Everyone watch this anime. This person is correct. Do not let the art style deter you from this great show.

I love the art style too. It was a bit weird at first, but it is different from the majority of other shows out there. It is refreshing and fits the show so perfectly. When Kaiji loses it, or is overjoyed, or scared out of his mind, the art portrays that perfectly.

I believe the best part of this show for all of the fans watching is not the story nor the atmosphere. It is the ultimate narrator!!!(My only reason seeing this show is 70% because of how great his narration was especially in the first episode during the flash back.(Waga!,Uragiri!!,Damashiai!!!.)

It seems that everyone acknowledge that we see this anime is more for the narrator nor the Zawa effect more than the story lol.

Okay so... look guys, I don't really know how to convince you to watch this show. It is sort of like trying to convice people that they should eat a certain place in town. You tell them how good the food is, and they say, "oh yeah, sounds great. I'll give it a shot if I'm ever out that way."
But you know they aren't REALLY going to. Maybe they will. But probably not.
So I'm just going to be honest, lay all the cards on the table, show my hand so to speak, go all in, put all the cats in the blender if you will. No, forget the cats, I don't know where I was going with that one, there never were any cats.
Just watch this show - it is great. You owe it to yourself. It is smart, and it is nerve wracking. It isn't a show where the hero always wins, or where you can see the outcome a mile away. It isn't about happy endings, or sad endings. It is just a great suspense anime that is a whole lot of fun because it keeps you guessing what is going to happen next.
Give it a shot.

Although I have to agree that it's great, you do guess whats going to happen to kaiji about 6 episodes before the actual result, he'll think something up, get hurt, start plan,ZAWA ZAWA, then he lucks out and wins. Also most of the time it forces you to go on for hours although in reality it's happening in 5-20 minutes. But the sheer disgustingness and uniqueness of the characters and kaiji's unique persona and legacy forces you to go on to the deepest depths of hell with him

Of course, what makes Kaiji interresting is how he manages to save his ass each time.

I dunno... I mean, did you forsee how things would turn out with Hyodo? You might forsee things in general terms, but the amount of suffering and sacrifice is what is so intriging. How far must Kaiji go to win? If he wins at all, that is...
