"We still don't know the name of the flower we saw that day"

Six childhood friends grew apart in high school. One of them is Jintan, now a shut-in. He gets a request to fulfill a wish for Menma, the only one of their friends to have stayed the same over the years. In order to grant her wish, he will have to find and reunite their old friends.

So, another new Slice of Life, Drama anime is here. AnoHana starts out kinda depressing, but it has potential as a touching anime. My heart was touched at the ending of the first episode when they played "secret base ~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~" (10 Years after Ver). If you watched "Kyou no Go no ni", you'll notice it's the same song.
So, is anyone watching this, and what are your thoughts?

Impressive first episode. It was hard for me not to get choked up abit, even though I had barely a clue of what transpired till the end. Has some real potential. Looking forward to more of this series :D

This week never ceases to impress.Spoiler:
Mm. I'm a sucker for these type of shows as well, and the first episode definitely exceeded my expectations. At first, I thought that Menma was going to be a simple delusion of Jinta, (with him having schizophrenia at the end of it all), but I was glad that throughout the episodes we were presented with evidence that she is a ghost, (with Naruko feeling the weight on her next, and the glass knocking over in Menma's house). I'm curious if, as the series progresses if Memna will be eventually be seen by everyone, or if Jinta will be the only one.
I, too, enjoyed the flashbacks, and am eagerly waiting for more from this series.
And, I think the awkward dialogue was probably just the translation.

when i watched the 1st episode,it does feeling depressing because i can feel the hardness of a shut-in felt to endure the pressure and what happened in the childhood.
and when the end using the ~kimi ga kureta mono~(10 years after ver),really left a strong impact to me.
even though the story's off season,i'm gonna put this in my top watch show.

[font=Courier New]This, so much. I remember watching the anime that had the original version as an ending, and I was all "!!!!"
Nevertheless, the first episode met my expectations ( I set high standards. ) fully, and I'm definitely going to continue to follow this series.

I can totally tell this one is really gonna get to me.
I loved the first episode, though it made me a little sad on the inside too.
Definitely looking forward to this anime. <3

Clannad-esque character growth+Little Busters(Refrain)ish plot development+Toradora director = massive win that results in one of my top favorite show of the season and maybe ever.
The first episode hit almost all the right spots for me. Just loved it, can't wait for more.

Yet another show I’ll be following this season!
Great first impressions. The transition between the flashback scenes was done really well, IMO.

Also great second episode. I can't figure out who's cuter: Nessa from Fractale or Menma, but my vote goes to Menma.
I wonder, if Menma can move physical objects, wouldn't she be able to use that to prove her existence, ie. writing?
Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen similar concept before: development of the depressed main character who was also a leader-like figure among the childhood friend, and again gathers his friends/comrades, w/e (NOT Clannad, btw). It was a great series too if it existed (lol)
Anyone having similar deja vu right now?

Another fantastic episode.
I'm loving Popo as well, he does a nice job lightening the mood when it gets a little down.
Definitely enjoying the development of the characters!

Yea what TwilightEngel said, while also doing what somesome did. That aside, great character progression and the flow of the episode was great, I did have to stop a few times to look at some small things like the posters in the store and the writing on the Nokemon box etc. I am looking forward to next weeks episodes as much as the rest of us.
