I'm honestly kinda surprised no one made a post about Gantz.
Gantz is a story about a guy who dies and then gets transferred to a semi-"posthumous" existence, with a few other people who have recently died. There is a black sphere that houses a comatose old man on some sort of machine named Gantz. Through the sphere Gantz gives out missions to kill "aliens" for points. When someone reaches 100 points they're given a second chance at life. These missions are always fatal to some of the mission members, meaning a lot of gore and a lot of new characters and personalities.

There are 26 episodes, each episode is roughly 22 minutes each.
This anime includes excessive gore and nudity and maybe like 1-2 sex scenes and swearing.
I give it 8.5/10

I watched the first episode and it was pretty shit comapred to the manga imo, but it could've become awesome after that for all i know.

The plotline was bad because the anime was done faster than the manga so no one doing the anime knew how it was going to turn out so they just went with whatever, according to the wikipedia.

good series i loved it. I really takes balls for the writers to kill off such great characters. which is like the total opposite of one piece no offense love that show too.

One of the most interesting series ever. It's extreme and is somewhat unique. Just please, skip the god-awfull Anime.

idk if anyone is caught up on not but they finally finished off that 100 pointer dood thank gawd it took like 30 chapters and kurono is bak for more action now it gets more interesting

i really disliked the anime, i was fine up until the point they killed ALL of the main characters, no, infact they killed every character we were familiar with up until that point which was what, ep20??? w/e. only the main character was spared, but then he becomes accompannied with more gantz people who then end up hunting him and the series goes to complete liquid shit. somehow i ended up watching the whole thing since i was pretty new to anime and had the sympathy to give all animes a try, now is not so much the case.

Woah, surprised no one likes the anime.
I love it! :D One of my absolute favorites.
I actually loved the ending (that differs from the manga). Really really like it. Wish more animes like this would be made >.< guess i'm outta luck.
Oh and awesome replay value for me. ^^ This and NHK are the only animes I can watch over and over and over again.
Only sorta bad thing I can say about it is that the animations are suffering from time. What was absolutely awesome a few years ago doesn't seem all that good now. Still, it manages to get the mood. ^^

Never watched the anime. And based on the comments i have read, i think i will just stick to the good old manga. all i am waiting for in the manga is for kurono to do reika :twisted:

I loved that anime series, it was like...the first anime I saw on ondemand...in my LIFE. lOl. So I loved that show, and it had really really sad parts with grandmas and little boys dying in it. ;-; So sad.

gantz i have to say is everything you could ever want in anime and id say comes close to being the perfect show but the story line is to thin atleast in the anime the manga to me is flawless and i cant wait till october 1 for gantz to return but i wish the anime would have waited till the manga got further because the anime would have been so much better

I don't really see why there should be alot of bashing to the anime series. Without having seen the manga series and just comparing it as a standalone piece of work It was pretty decent to see. Then again this was a while ago for me since the last time I have watched it so now I will have to consider popping out that box set and sit down for a day watching through all those grueling episodes. If anything its one of those few series that made me love better than average gore related scenes!
