Drills Are A Man's Romance (The Gurren-Lagann Thread)

Jacob glanced, I typed.
Episode 9's out, subbed by Nyoro~n. Those guys catch a lot of flak for their translation decisions, and frankly the show's target audience (Sunday Mornings = 6-12) doesn't REALLY warrant the profanity, but I feel it's appropriate to the level of GAR the series is putting out. Besides, Japanese profanity is extremely mild by most standards, and the characters speak it in full.

If you look at where we are now in the story (epi.9) and look back at the beginning of epi. 1 you can tell they have the same manly spirt symbol (the skull with the flames)on their flag and on that guys cape. Also, its the same battleship that they just got, and the dude with the drill key has blue looking hair just like Simon's. Then the female voice that we hear kinda sounds like Yoko's. And, he yells out Gurren-Lagann and the "Who the hell do you think im am" line. In short, i think that the dude we see is Simon, Yoko we hear and the other dude is the guy with the big forehead.

hmn.. interesting, i thought the target was for older audiences...
consider the amount of language, cover, and topic, it would be more of the older class, especially since alot of older crowd people are watching it as well.
Nia = KAWAAIIII!!!

i first thought the target was for younger audiences
i mean, it's all about drills, giant robots and exaggerated battle scenes
but the humor makes me think otherwise
it's a nice break from all the wussy heroes i get from school-romance-comedies
and like what the other guy said, uh... Nia is cute...
...but why did Kamina have to die?
i mean, he was a cool, hot-headed testosterone maniac with a good sense of humor... he was like the main star of the show...
...i have a feeling that Simon would probably grow up to be just like his aniki :)

Kamina died so Simon could take back the spotlight and be awesome. Also, he died so Nia could get into the show. Think about it. If he lived, Simon would still be in the backseat and they would never have met Nia, so Simon would still mourn not getting Yoko. Still, it is sad when Kamina kicked the bucket, but the payoff for his death makes it acceptable.

He first appeared in episode 4. Also, I agree with you that ORDER is extremely slow. They only just released episode 14, which aired on the first of July.

BSS & Anon subs are the fastest. Quality is pretty good as far as I can tell, though I miss Nyoro~n subs.
