Hey I've updated my art thread with new drawings. I'd post them here but none of them really fit any of the projects criteria. I've also been working on the gestures assignment but I'll have to scan them in later. Once I do I'll just edit this post and put them here.

I second this statement. Especially hands and figures. They're a bitch to draw for me.

Agreed, they need alot of time investment. I don't think there's going to be a point where any artist can't improve on his hands and figures more.

[size=21]Assignment 4 - Heads and Facial Expressions[/h]
Spoiler:

This week we're going to focus on heads and facial expressions. You should pick up Andrew Loomis Heads and Hands for this one. If you have another good book on drawing heads, feel free to use that. Often times the face will be the first thing the eyes are drawn to. In my opinion it's the most important part of the character. Learning how to properly lay out the features will help greatly.

Task 1
Draw at least five heads, do more if you want. Try to properly lay out facial features. You can also use a photo reference and do a portrait if you wish.

Task 2
Draw at least five heads, focus on really showing emotion. You can exaggerate here if you want.

Right click and save as the image below to see a full size.

Assignment, though i only draw two heads. So like, i'm following what
Gism taught me how to draw the face on Skype, and a little Andrew loomis style.
And so, what do you know, it works. Thanks Gism :D

Your pencils are turning out alot better Mangaka, really great job.Try to make the lines fluid and light, dark where they need to be dark. I noticed some of your older stuff you press down really hard, so it causes the whole piece to be really jarring. Combining Soft + Hard Edges creates a beautiful contrast.

The eye alignments could be fixed a bit, before you commit to a design, lightly draw the general shape of the pupils. Then stop and see if they look right, you don't need it to be perfect. Also they could be rounded a bit, think of it this way. Imagine a ball, it sits inside the socket, so just think of that round shape when drawing the eyes. I provided two helpful images, including one which shows a visual of what Gism was talking about.

That's some good work Mangaka. Keep practicing!
Not sure if I'll ever do these assignments, as I've got my other Art class to worry about (aside from the life drawing one). Shit gets conceptual.
In any case, I'll drop by and help with pointers and examples when needed.

Dropping by with a website/blog that might help you with figure drawing.
It's a resource site, and the creator, Josh Reed, dropped by my class for a Life-Drawing session.

ALSO: If none of these references help you, Josh has a "Request a Handout" that will tackle the problem if the problem has not been brought up in the first place.
