I'm hoping for a good anime like Chaos;Head was. I think some people had problems with the whole sword thing, but the mindfuck story was great enough to overlook that with ease.
Nope, Nothing is wrong with the swords, the anime just failed to convey the VN perfectly.
Anyway, they're really pacing this forward lol, the VN was much slower at start.
This is why I'm hesitant to watch Steins;Gate. Luckily, I played the Chaos;Head VN before watching the show, but I wouldn't want a shitty adaptation to ruin this series for me (if the game ever gets a translation/I learn Japanese (lol)).
First, I never said that "faster" means it's a bad adaption. In this case it's much better, Because I actually spent more time to reach the Lab members intro, than in the anime.
And second, this is not by Stuido Mad house, but by Studio White Fox. So, it's gonna be pretty different in the adaptation.
So, just watch it as it is, and since you've never played the VN, there's no way you can compare the anime with the VN.
Pretend that the VN Never existed.
I won't even post any comparisons or spoilers again, JUST for this anime.

I didn't really watch the entirety of Chaos;Head. Would it be recommended I do so if I was intent on picking this up?

I'm just a bit wary considering the success rate of VN-to-Anime productions seems to be slightly lower than suicide rate among trees.

Not a bad first episode and I can see how some people may not be in to this since it is a similar pacing to Katanagatari but with less heavy dialog. Also, another role for Miyano Mamoru, except not a flamboyant role this time but a mad scientist. Did he just become so popular by other studios after being so Fabulous in Star Driver?

Did he just become so popular by other studios after being so Fabulous in Star Driver? Can't really tell, Because he's already voicing Okabe Rintaro in 2009 Original Steins;Gate VN, before Star Driver.
In 2010 he only voiced 5 anime characters, and in 2011 he only voices 2 till this april.
THe one that is really becoming popular is actually Kana Hanazawa who plays Shinna Mayuri.
She voiced 19 anime characters in 2010, and now she's voicing 7 Characters until this April in 2011.
If you feel that the pacing is similar to KAtanagari, well it's because it's done by the same Studio, Studio White Fox.
Mazui and UTW dropped this because they thought that CR (or horrible subs...lol) is doing a rather good job. So, there's no reason to hate them for quality translation.

the first episode was very interesting, I like the fact that the main character is also takuto(from star driver) voice actor...they didn't really give to much away. so I can't wait for the next one.

I finally got around to watching the first episode. Taking it with a grain of salt and knowing nothing of the VN, I would say it was enough to spike my interest from what is was initially. Like everyone said beforehand, it was fast-paced, but not necessarily anything bad about that. Guess I'll stick with this one...
Truer words have never been spoken :)

[font=Verdana][color=green]This is another anime I'm going to watch this season. Certainly a lot more serious than the others this season; can't wait for the next episode.

Checked the first episode soon as it was up on animeseason. I thought it was good tbh, looking forward to future episodes. When I can get myself a working computer at home that is DX

Ep. 2
"He's a guy"
LOL
Edit: Finished the entire episode, and I haven't been more happier with the brainteasing in a long while. I'm in love with this so far.
P.S. Do bananas really turn green if put into microwave for 2 minutes?

That's not your ordinary Microwave that they used.

Because it turns in opposite direction? (Other than that event in ep.2)

Let's just say, that the whole things has been modified beyond the normal uses of a MIcrowave.
I never tried it ,but a Banana should burn and melt in a normal microwave.
