Did Shaft do all of the Monogatari's? I figured the Bake first season was done by a different studio than the one who did Nise, and so on.
---------------------------------------------------------------
On a side note, I don't think sales can be used to equate the quality of a story,

-SHAFT did all the Monogatari series. If you felt that is different it's because Shaft has to downplay all of the art & animation direction for Nisekoi. Which caused some people to say "Shaft isn't suited for Nisekoi".

-I mentioned sales as a counter argument for people claiming that "Nisekoi would flop without SHAFT". Nisekoi as you can see has rivaled To-Love-Ru's earlier manga sales and TLR is still a cult hit. Following the same logic, Nisekoi couldn't fail If it wasn't done by Shaft because there are people that will like it because it's Nisekoi.

It's still one of the Romcoms still running in Shonen Jump who's known for cancelling series because it's low on the popularity ranks. Heck Nisekoi is the ONLY Romcom manga still running in WSJ, other Romcom who debuted near Nisekoi all got cancelled.

Chronologically Released RomComs in WSJ (2010-Present)
-Magico (End July 2012)
-Kagami no Kuni Harisugawa (End February 2012)
-Nisekoi Still Running (Debut November 2011)
-Pajama no Kanojo (End August 2012)
-Koisome Momiji (End November 2012)
-Koganeiro (End June 2012)
-Cross Manage (End July 2012)
-Hime Doll!! (End November 2013)

In short it's popularity alone won't make it fail. But!!! Yes, SHAFT can boost its popularity, but claiming "without SHAFT it will Flop", it just shows that these people are just Shaft fanboys who doesn't care about Nisekoi itself.

Maybe I misunderstood this part, but it had seemed as if you equated the quality of the story with the number of sales with the statements so close together.

"If you felt that is different it's because Shaft has to downplay all of the art & animation direction for Nisekoi". The difference I felt was in the direction of BakeMonogatari versus NiseMonogatari (NekoMonogatari and BakeMonogatari S2), I should have wrote those out, I apologies.

I, as well, believe Nisekoi doesn't need SHAFT to succeed.

"...but claiming "without SHAFT it will Flop", it just shows that these people are just Shaft fanboys who doesn't care about Nisekoi itself", most likely.

Just watched episode 1. I haven't actually read the original source but somehow, nothing much I can say about nisekoi although I will watch it until the end of it's run.

One thing I would like to complain though, it that they always make an anime of a manga that has not ended yet. Either it's a good or bad thing but for me its just a good way to make more profit on a title that has not even concluded properly yet.

Thing is, nobody knows when the manga is ending, and nothing so far has hinted us it will. Making an anime while the manga is at the peak of its popularity seems like a reasonable thing to do. Like you said, profit!

Let's hope Shaft makes an ending and make the bestgirl win.

It's confirmed that Nisekoi will be a 2 cour anime, and most stations has labeled it with 20 episodes (SHAFTED?)

The only part that can end well with the anime is chapter 50 or 51.

It's funny because I was just telling myself how great it would be if chapter 49 was animated.

Just watched ep 3. Nothing special happened on that episode that made me laugh or wonder.

For that to happen, the match needs to end first... The more it drags on the more I believe anything is possible. To Love Ru pretty much confirms it. Hopefully it doesn't end the same way. The one shot was all about Chitoge, it better remains that way.

Yep dropped. Hanging on to it just because of the animation studio feels wrong. Someone tell me when Tsugumi (bestgirl) appears.

My waifu? Sure.

Seriously though. It feels wrong to watch an anime of a manga that you read each and every chapter, I don't have that kind of interest as much as the ones that are based on a manga/LN/story that I'm totally not familiar with.

Just my personal opinion, but this anime still feels very Shaft-y.

I'm expecting a mind-fuck twist though.

I don't particularly dislike it, but it distracts me quite a lot of times, considering it is dauntingly similar to Monogatari's style, apart from non-existence of the black/white/red scenes. Every time, I always thought of Monogatari.

Told ya.
Seeing how things are going on, Tsugumi will be in the 7th or the 8th. We already see that they skipped The Cooking Chapter (which is kind of a bummer, since it's one of the running gags) They might compress chapter 12, 13 and 14 together though.

Actually no, Shaft has pretty much downpoured a waterfall on their animation. One of the things "Shafty" left in episode 5 was the "dumb collection of megaphones", "dumb perspectives" "Awkward zoom-ins on female private parts" and "the floaty inserted props (barf effect attached to real chopsticks".

Poor choice of words + exaggeration on my part, but point still stands.

Even if you outline all that things, I can't help but to still notice it's still shaft-y, no matter how small and minor they are. Even in Denpa Onna, as far as I remember, I had a strong feeling from the first ep that it was Shaft and I was right.

Maybe using other anime as an example isn't a good idea, but I'm sure you get where I'm coming from.

This series is still very much in the Shaft style. That aside, has anyone else felt that the mouths are animated very smoothly when characters speak?

But compared with Monogatari it's very downplayed. There are less "crazy perspectives", Every background is drawn in detail, there's less awkward screen cutting, less "unique" animation sequence, less usage of contrasting colors and less abstract stuff zooming.

This is why I said SHAFT isn't suitable for Nisekoi. The 1st episode has the strongest Shaft influence, but now they keep on toning it down, with each episode getting more toned down than the previous.

This is like when PA works adapted Uchouten Kazoku, who's character design and visuals is pretty much the same with Zetzubou Sensei. In result, we can't see the usual beauty in which PA works usually make their characters and backgrounds.

IMO, Uchouten Kazoku would be better suited for SHAFT, but they were already busy with Monogatari at that time.
