https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=2949 - there's the thread, but it's old, so maybe a repost is allowed. I personally prefer manga because it's less time consuming, more fulfilling, complete plot, unrushed endings, less space on hard drive.

Both... I love to read manga especially ones based off anime series, because you get to see differences between the manga version and the anime version. I still enjoy watching anime. Still, I enjoy both of them.

I prefer manga because I've always liked reading. That, and usually manga allows for more graphic things to be shown. In one part of Bleach, a character's arm is cut in the anime, while in the manga, the arm is cut off. Big difference between a flesh wound and losing an entire limb. I'm not just talking about differences between a manga and its anime adaptation. Manga, in general, can get away with more than an anime series can. You compare the most violent anime to the most violent manga, and the manga will win out.

I think it depends on the context. For example, one of my favorite manga series, GTO, has an anime adaption. Its good, don't get me wrong, but it tones down a lot of stuff, and I don't think the brilliance of the manga translates very well. In that case, manga is better. But how about something like Gundam. If anybody read the SEED mangas, you'll see that, aside from butchering the story, the action just doesn't translate at all. Without the explosive animation, music, sfx, and all that, the action in Gundam becomes very very boring. So yeah, it varies case by case, and both sides have such absolutely brilliant stuff to offer I really can't choose.

Even though this is a repost, it can stay since the other is a year old :P.
It really depends for me. I don't really read too much manga, but I still like it a lot. I tend to like anime a bit more though.
Take Soul Eater for example. I've heard the manga was good, but I want to watch the anime and not spoil it by reading the manga. The reason for this is I find the way the anime looks is incredible. Everything about it visually is amazing to me, I don't see how the manga could even come close to it. And I've also heard that the anime is following the manga storyline spot on, so I'm not missing anything.

Since I guess this poll isn't about the problems some anime adaptions have with raping their original story, I'd say I prefer anime. Comedy and dramatic shows are more enjoyable with great voice actors, but then again, reading manga is more relaxative than watching anime and looking at subtitles (Dubs are not an option.) - guess I can't really tell which I prefer after all. I'd say 50/50 for now.

I think I'm more satisfied with the manga version most of the time. If I start watching an anime that I haven't read the manga for, I won't start reading the manga version though...

I'd have to say manga because when I read the manga first before the anime I want to see what plots are different from the anime that are different in the manga so I can see if the company actually took time to follow the story or just ignore the plot and throw in a bunch of fillers and maybe a couple of episodes that follow a few chapters in the manga my rule is if doesn't at least follow the manga in anyway period the anime is not worth watching.

Sometimes, an anime adaptation can do things very differently from its manga source but still be a good series. D. Gray Man, so I've heard, is a good example of this; in the beginning of the series, it adds some filler episodes, but it does a better job of introducing you to the characters than the manga.
A teacher of mine once said that the way you do it is, you watch the movie first, then you read the book, so you won't be nit-picking during the movie about how it's different. He was talking about book-to-movie adaptations, but it goes for manga-to-anime adaptations, too.

Hmmmm you have a point there ok I will watch D. Gray Man first then read the manga and see if your theory works.

Both, some times I rather watch the anime (sound, color, and all that stuff is better than plain white and black pages) but for animes like Bleach, Naruto, Hitman Reborn I read the manga instead of the anime.

i would choose Manga.
though i am more of a 'visual type person' i am most likely to be watching anime.
though mangas give off more, like details and other things not found in the animes. :P

For me it really depends. Initially I'll opt to watch the anime first but if it ends inconclusively then I can shift to the manga, like BECK for example.
I really loved the anime but of course it ended and so I began reading its manga. Since then, I must say that I Like the manga better not only because of the much detailed & better art design but also because of its completeness storywise that anime versions, as we know, doesn't have (only got a few exceptions, like Monster). But it isn't like I've lost all my Love for the anime because in a different category, it still shows a much wider and various types of art form. Since BECK's main theme is about Music, wouldn't it be rather dull to just see them "ROCKIN'!" in the manga with only the the use of imagination, without even hearing anything.
There's just too many things (factors) that must be taken into consideration when comparing /or even separates the anime and the manga.
In the end, everything comes down to one's preference. If you like the anime, why not try the manga and vice versa. Both have their own special qualities & features, nobody loses either way! We all Love the "Anime Culture" and that's why we're talkin' about it, right? Is there really a need to choose between which one is better?!
