ANIME SUGGESTION LIST Layout

I thought I would make a separate poll asking how people think I should present the new anime suggestion list. I have boiled it down to two options. I will be using Ryssen's suggested layout design to see if it works out. You can see that design here.

However, I am unsure whether to present it in the format of either A-Z or by dominant genre.

A-Z would list every suggested anime by people alphabetically, with the title of the anime in a large font (as seen in the design).

Dominant genre would take the core genre of each series (e.g. comedy, mystery etc) and arrange series by genre, while listing the other genre contained within the series in the information part under the title (as seen in the design).

Personally, with the chosen design, I think A-Z would work better. I think deciding what the 'core' genre of a series is could be problematic. For example, would Nichijou go under 'comedy' or 'slice of life'? Unless someone can suggest a way to arrange by genre (one that isn't like how the old list is presented - there are too many), A-Z may be the way.

The reason for making this poll is so I can see how the community want the list presented. I want it to be as convenient and accessible in the way people want it as possible.

You could do both:

Oreimo(Comedy/slice of life, borderline incest.)

Could do, but then I'd probably have too many genre listed. I want it as compact and succinct as possible. Like I'd have Comedy/slice of life anime, but then what about comedy series that aren't slice of life? (if that's what you meant)

A-Z is fine. I have a question on that though. Would Oreimo be listed in "O" for "Ore no Imouto..." or "M" for "My Little Sister..."? More generally I'm asking if an A-Z list would use the English or Romanji title.

That's a good question, I'll have to think about that. Personally, I'd prefer to list it as "Ore no Imouto...". I would most likely use Romaji, unless the original Japanese is in Katakana. For example, I wouldn't list Cowboy Bebop as Kaubōi Bibappu. In other words, if the original Japanese title has English in it then it will stay in English.

Have the romaji somewhere close so you can search for it.

A suggestion to get both English and Romanji in the title. For long titles this won't be as clean.

The kanji for bakemono are there just to see how it would look. Gif's look pixelated when resized too much in this style. Links to MAL just to test.

Well I wanted three images next to each other. We could use another size if you want.

The problem with going there though is that the resolution is already very low.

Anidb is a good site for suggestions for tags. MAL is pretty useless at that.

I'm not picky on the quantity or size of pictures. Still images that link to WebM's would be best until (if) WebM support arrives. Picking our own pictures from google, boorus, etc would be best. Is MAL useful for anything other than keeping a "seen it" list?

It has a staff list and synopsis. It's something.

Oh I think it looks cool but rather just having the characters as header picture wouldn't it be nice if we could get the logo on there as well~?

+ I like the Idea of important people like voice actors, artist for OP&END etc..

tbh I think it would be cooler with sorting by genre but I can see why it would cause trouble since most series has more than one genre. So going alphabetically would be fine. If people want to find a special genre they can just ctrl+f or cmmd+f ^^

And for the romaji and English titles I think we should go with the romaji title as the big one (but ofc if the title is English keep it english..), and then have names in Hiragana/katana/Kanji (if anyone can read the kanji lol) and the english one in alt name.

That has to be one big ass logo. Screenshots are better as they also give people an first impression on the character design, like how godtier Hitagi looks.

Yea, go with romaji titles unless the english one is more popular, like Bebop.

yeah I can see that makes sense. But then screencaps of main characters to avoid giving out spoilers? (not that I mind.. love spoilers) but for others?

and right, I think you should put the english title if it more popular like.. Attack on titan instead of Shingeki no kyojin (prefer the jp one more though) and Prince of tennis instead of Tennis no ouji-sama

Take screenshots from the first episodes, maybe. But like most of the time you don't need to worry about spoilers because newcomers has no context to the images.

I'll stick to the second one for consistency, and wherever an English title is used I'll make sure to put that.
