[Anime] Suisei no Gargantia

made me shed a tear when Chamber sacrificed him self to save Ledo, but then after looking at him getting "Mended" by the whalesquids, it makes me happy~

So it turns out Chamber was the main character all along. Joking aside, Chamber and Ledo were really the only characters that got some development. Most everyone else got all their character development shoved in a single episode or were otherwise static throughout the series. The romance angle wasn't developed well enough for it to be turning point where Chamber kicks Ledo out. I also find it funny how the whalesquids formerly being humans was quickly swept under the rug. And somehow Ledo now can tell when whalesquids are getting angry. How has no one else figured that out before?

In the end, it was an okay show that didn't do anything particularly offensive.

"Go to hell, metalhead." Best line ever, Chamber best pilot development support interface system ever. That Bellows x Pinion x Rackage triangle too. Best mech anime of 2013.

the part at the end where Bevel is teaching, do some of the characters in the background look different from the rest? Like, they stand out among the crowd, maybe main characters of possible season 2?

The last person/thing I expected to make me experience the feels.

OK, I was a bit confused about the god complexes and the human sacrifices, but this ep cleared everything up. It's so upset seeing Hideauze being butchered now...Fuckin' Urobutcher. I can't wait for the second season. This has to be my anime of the year.

This was probably more interesting than the other OVA ep, which was more of a background/side story based on Ridget's past.

Given Kugel's own initial moral conflicts, Ledo may have tread on a similar hardened path if he ended up with these particular pirates, rather than the more diverse and vibrant community of Gargantia.
