[Anime] Terra Formars

Synopsis:
With the space program attempting to travel to Mars, 21st century scientists were tasked with warming up the planet so that humans could survive on its surface. They came up with an efficient and cost effective plan of sending cockroaches and mold to the surface so that the mold would absorb the sunlight and the insect corpses would serve as a food source for the mold.

It is now the year 2577 and the first manned ship to Mars has landed on the planet and the six crew members are ready for their mission. But what they find are giant mutated humanoid cockroaches with incredible physical strength. The crew members are easily wiped out, but not before sending a transmission back to Earth. Now, humanity will send elite warriors to exterminate the mutated bugs and claim back Mars.

The tv anime will cover the Anex 1 arc, while the OVAs, (the first ova is already out) will cover both of the Bugs arcs. The Bugs arcs are prequels to the Anex 1 arc, so in chronological order - Bugs 1, Bugs 2, Anex 1.









The video quality for the first OVA wasn't bad. It would be better if the 3DCG scenes for the roaches were cut out, otherwise the animation is alright. The manga is also great, so I highly recommend reading it. Terra Formars will air next season, Fall 2014.

I really hope they don't fuck this up.

Oh shiiiiiiit. Another anime adaptation of a manga I started but then completely forgot about. The few chapters I read were really good, need to catch up now.

Just picked this up today, I like it. Since they've bagged every horrifically amazing animal broadcasted on the olden days of Animal Planet. Feels pretty AoT but I think I like this more.

I've heard a lot about the censorship and I've decided to not watch it until the BDs come out.

November, with the release of Vol 11 of the manga (or was it 12 that releases this November).

Well 10 is still being translated, so I'm going to place my bets on volume 11 being released.

About that... wouldn't this anime get flaked by people shouting "racist!"? I mean, not 1 of the crew member were black...

Actually there was one that was part of the Bugs II crew. You should see her in the 2nd OVA, whenever it is released. If anything Terraformars is quite racially diverse.

Actually, no. I doubt OVAs would get flaked but a series long animation where viewers gets increased every episode depending on hype and quality would garner "sensitive" people's attention. I mean an OVA is a one-shot thing, a series is different.

Regardless, it's an OVA that's crucial to the overall plot of the series (covering the very first chapters of the manga), so one can't really watch the show without watching the OVAs, unlike how most OVAs of shows work these days. If anyone does complain about lack of racial diversity (which would really show one's ignorance about this series), they can simply be directed to the Bugs II arc.

I just hope it ends that way..
