And here I thought I can finally see an MC with two complete, round balls. And yet this proves again that most MC has less than half a ball.Nope, considering that he was already a pacifist, he actually has balls to take his role as "JIOR's hero" and lead other students to safety. L-elf was just there in the end to say "that's not enough".
A difference in ball quality. Not enough balls for me. If you ask, "What kind of MC that got balls according to your standard then?", perhaps someone like Saitama from Onepunch man.

For me, I don't have a standard because I respect them subjectively. I never associate "having balls" with "extraordinary feats", "superhuman abilities" or "nerves of steel", but by the weight of each characters own issues that they must face.
As simple as Sato from NHK finally deciding to stop being a NEET and Hikkikomori for the sake of Misaki, or as complicated as Kurono from Gantz when he defied Gantz's orders and fights his own team to protect Tae.
Back to Valvrave topic, I don't even consider L-elf to "have balls" or bad ass because killing people to him is as the same breathing, which means he's not challenged with an issue that's not in his comfort zone.

Well, a simple difference in preference. No big deal. And I never said L-Elf to be a badass, didn't I? More like, I found quite a few irony in his personality and course of action, military wise, which in turn did not amuse me too much.
On the side, how many episodes this series will be? About 13 or 25-ish?

I mentioned L-elf, because of the forum trends that they're calling L-Elf a Bad ass, while the usual MC loathing for being not as bad ass as L-Elf. meh...
The series is going to be a 2 cour split, which means for this season will get 12 episodes and get the continuation in the next Fall.

Any inquiries as to who or what the girl on the screen is? Other than being an entity like C.C.. I wonder if this universe is related to or the same as the universe Code Geass takes place in.

While we're on the topic of L-Elf...Spoiler:
Everytime I hear A-drei scream "L-elf" he sounds like someone trying to clear his throat in a very violent manner and it always makes me giggle on the inside.

Not bashing on the anime or anything like that. But I feel like there is too much trend these days of having a weak main character who is surrounded by stronger forces which compel him/her into action and "thrust" them into greatness. Right now, Haruto is a very weak person, naive about ARUS, lets Shoko and L-Elf manipulate him, but he has the "saving grace" of the Valvrave. This is very similar to Shu from Guilty Crown, when he really only stands out due to his power that he just happened to obtain.
I'm also not saying that having a weak main character is a bad thing, like for example, would Evangelion have been half as compelling without the psychological problems faced by the weak and troubled Shinji? I'm just saying that specific characters who act like Haruto are becoming too prevalent in anime. However, we'll see about that later in the anime, as who knows what kind of changes Haruto will go through. And I swear to God, Allah, Buddha, whatever...if they make a drastic change and then just as quickly reverse it again (Yes I'm looking at you Guilty Crown), I'm going to shoot a bunny

Nope, I understand completely and I agree.
Guilty Crown, Accel World immediately come to mind(funny thing, the protag Seiyuus are the same).
This is -in my opinion- what limits them from being truly great.(Exception of Accel World, I dropped this show. The MC was annoying beyond all imagination to me because his character was weak, naive, spineless and oblivious.)
Weak characters, and power is simply bestowed upon them, and now they have a task they must resolve.
Compared to like, Chuunibyou, SAO([size=10]I still prefer the LN... but the music and the great Seiyuus made it good enough to watch start to finish, so hats off to them[/h]), PSYCHO-PASS, and Little Busters!, the characters are initially weak, but they become stronger over time. They don't become strong because it was granted to them by some outstanding and foreign force that they simply grasp, they earn it through experience, and they do it for the sake of others. The character development in these shows are phenomenal compared to others.
So far, I like Valvrave because I think the mech is pretty bad-ass. They haven't explained much on its background but the fact it uses that red light as a weapon is beyond cool for me. Plus the artwork is great.
