By fluid I mean many frames per second. Some animes including the episode numbers are
Naruto(30, 48, 71, 133)
Naruto Shippuden(26, 85, 123, 143, 167)
Birdy The Mighty:Decode(1)
Bleach (166, 216, 309)
Fullmetal Alchemist(34)
Samurai Champloo(1, 21, 25, 26)
Soul Eater(1)
Does anyone know some I haven't listed?!

No you don't wanna watch the movie before watching the series, that would be unwise.

This short video was very impressive back in 1983, and still is today. It's even more impressive when you realize the video was so old, that it doesn't use any fancy CGI effects, and was all hand-drawn. (It was one of the first works Studio GAINAX made before they were even called GAINAX)
Fast-forward to 2:45 for the action-ish parts.

I guess you should watch the anime or play the visual novel before the movie. The movie version got the introduction to everything kinda unclear.
