Bakuman 74

I don't think there's even been a Bakuman topic in Chapter Discussion, but let's change that!
All the authors are really getting fired up, even the hikikomori that may be too adult for Jump, thanks to Hattori's carefully-laid plans. And of course, Nizuma and Iwase. That woman is a devil! I'd love to see her story get knocked down by Tanto, or any other series, for that matter. But I wonder if a gag manga can do it. I mean, in a fight between Bobobo and Pokemon, the clear winner would be Pokemon, right?

I hate to admit it but Tanto will have a really hard time knocking Crow and Natural off the top spots, but I think the other mangaka's series might have a chance...
And btw Bobobo-Bobo-Bobo vs Pokemon isn't really much of a match, considering that not too many Americans know what it is due to lack of Toonami -__-

I couldn't think of any other gag series, besides Doraemon, which has reached mythical status and is hard to judge based solely on its merits.
I wonder which would win if both were brand new and released at the same time, Doraemon or Pokemon. Hmm.

Anyway on topic. I think that Tanto is going to be right behind if not tied with Natural. Hoping for first but I somewhat doubt it.
Slightly off topic, but I am Glad to say that in the May issue of SJ magazine in the US. It showed a preview for the fact Bakuman. So it means that. Hopefully before the end of the year it will start being released in the US.

Bout time theres a chapter discussion. I hope Akina fails. I have no faith in Tanto. Money and Intelligence was way better

but i agree with HIM saying that its going to be even if not second to natural cuz ur right shabby that it does look like its comparing bobobo to pokemon(and tbh i hate bobobo with a passion, could'nt stand watching it for even a minute)
but i really hope that they pull something outta there ass and blow every1 away...

Shujin's having such a tough time with gags (and it doesn't seem like his forte), I wonder if they're going to change Tanto to a battle manga or have to come up with a completely new series to compete with +Natural. Honestly, I'd like to see them do a different series, because Tanto doesn't appeal to me much, but that would mean a lot of chapters with them failing and being disappointed and then having to create something new, and I really don't want to see that again.

Honestly, I don't see Tanto going anywhere. It just doesn't have the right qualities to be a hit manga. I think something along the lines of Money and Intelligence would be more Shujin's forte, perhaps a manga where the protagonist is an Anti-Hero. Now, the results, I see Tanto ending up somewhere between third and fifth place, maybe second if the author pulls some random "I am god of this manga, TANTO SHALL BE RANKED SECOND." shit.
Side note: Does anyone else think +Natural sounds like a really good read?

I'd want to read +Natural if I didn't know anything about the author or her reasons for writing it. But because I do, when I think of the manga, all I see is a derivative work produced solely to become popular and make money. If I just read the manga though, I'd probably love it.
About Tanto, the quality of the story aside, it doesn't have the same feeling as something like Money and Intelligence or even Detective Trap. It's general shonen fare that doesn't do anything different; it'll really suck if they succeed with it because it won't show that they have real talent and can create something that's shonen yet different from the rest.

I sort of agree with where you're going with this, but when I look at the artwork and the whole attitude of Tanto it kind of seems like they're trying to bring classic gag manga back into the modern age, so that could be considered "different". But yeah, Shujin is definitely going to have some difficulty doing a pure gag manga, so perhaps he'll add some action scenes (maybe something similar to Megaman, since there's going to be an antagonist inventor in Tanto apparently), but I really can't say... -_-'

If people knew about the author they maybe wouldn't read it. She doesn't even enjoy manga. Shes only doing it because of Shujin. She is like a person who does a job they don't like.

But that would be the majority of the American populace. So you can't really fault her without knowing about her... But since we do, we can totally judge her and call her hurtful names. Stupid, selfish, arrogant bitch...
ShaggyJebus: I feel the same way. But even though I knew about her at the time, I still loved reading Niizuma read the[parts of the story he read outloud] outloud. It was fuckin' interesting. I'm not really enjoying this whole "Pokemon" turn that they've taken though... I just can't picture anything serious and or good when I hear/read the word "Pokemon".
About Tanto, it's highly unlikely that it will succeed. It's most likely going to be a[n eventual] bust[Unless of course they timeskip it up and make the inventions all dark and "WORLD GONNA' GET BLOW'D UP, BITCH." shit. Sure, it would make everybody go "What the fuck?" but at least it'd be interesting.] followed by a manga along the lines of "Money and Intelligence". Which I am looking forward to.
