[Anime] Casshern Sins 24 (FIN)
1
The irony of living life in search of its meaning amidst inevitable death.
The series was never really about science, robots, conflict, retribution, or anything else that it may have featured. I wouldn't say any more, as I'd like for others to figure it out themselves. (I've hinted quite a bit anyway)
I'd say that I've truly enjoyed it til it lasted. The series had its ups and downs in the animation department (in a consistent level) and story-telling/development wise but it did manage to convey its point across with simplicity. A nicely crafted series nonetheless, way to go MadHouse! It's not the best that they could offer but it's still worth a watch. :D
Tbh, everything went the way I had expected it to turn out; especially with Ringo turning into an adult. Awww, she's so adorable even with the passing of time. :D

I didn t think that somebody make a Topic to the last Episode of Casshern.
Realy amazing from you hermitVI.
I will give for your hard work reputation.
I love Casshern it is a interesting anime style and very good story about true reason of existence.
The Key of living is not to be perfect or to be immortal.
It is the way we do in our life.
And how other people be remind about us.
But all way must end.
If there is no dead it will be a realy poor world.
Not that I hate the life ... but it will be realy boring with time.
I love this philosophical part of this anime.

I really didn't want Lyuze to die... but I kinda saw that coming a few episodes back.
I admit, props to you hermitVI and Sereaphim. I didn't think anyone else watched this series. And you're totally right hermitVI; I think Casshern SINs biggest draws were its superb animation (fight scenes), intended color usage (remember that episode where that robot was painting a city of white?), smooth transition, and at times the background is stark yet beautiful at the same time. This series on a whole was very simplistic, but it was able to take many motifs like life, death, and the definitions of the two and make them stand out. I have to be honest, I thought that I'd drop this series in a few episodes due to a lack of plot, but as aforementioned, Casshern SINs was a series that surprised me with its simplistic complexity - making the mundane things that we take for granted seem important and beyond.
I do have some gripes with this series:
- namely that I still don't understand wtf happened to Luna, like she didn't die or some shit like that? Next thing we know, she does an 180 on us and isn't the fair and innocent girl she used to be and is quite frankly disgusting. She's like one big "?" to me. Maybe that's another motif in the series, how characters are reborn and are forced to take a look inside themselves in order to live through the Ruin.
- I kinda wished that they delved into Casshern's past a little more - it would give the story something more that the audience could chew on and help understand who Casshern really is. Or at least the scene where he kills Luna in its entirety instead of bits and pieces at the beginning of each episode.
- the last episode I felt was rushed. Seriously, I think a far better conclusion could've been reached because I still don't fully understand the exchange between Casshern and Luna. The fight between Braiking Boss and Casshern was a waste of time - really an underdeveloped scene that could've been used to explore more about Braiking Boss's intentions and beliefs and his relationship with Casshern.
Some memorable things to note:
- Leda I think was such a fall character in this series... I really felt sorry for her when all she wanted to be was a mother of children, apparently something that was denied(?).
- episodes 18 and 19 were in my opinion great - it made me appreciate who and what Lyuze was. I thought it especially touching when she starts attacking Casshern, but his passive resistance and compassion allows her to fully understand why she lives and for what. I felt pretty sad when she died.

Although this thread is a few years old, I would like to contribute that Casshern Sins is one of the most unappreciated animes of all time.
This series helped me feel at ease as death albeit inevitable also leads to life by using means of symbolism.
Casshern the undying and the grim reaper.
Ringo, the beacon of life in a decaying world.
Although all was gone from her she still moved on.
My favorite/memorable moment had to be Dunes death in episode 20 and lead to one of my favorite quotes “The sun does not ever give, almost all choose to take from it selfishly.”
Dune devoted his life to Luna as she was the only one who didnt ridicule and judge him with eyes full of disgust like many others around him, but instead opened her heart to him. The power invoked by such philisophical potrayals simply made his dying words a true masterpeice.
“I am content with just being a flower, blooming and withering away... Thats all i ever needed.”
This anime showed such beauty in ruin and chaos. Whiich made this my favorite anime of all time.
