Dance in the Vampire Bund

So I just finished the first episode.
I was excited at first because I thought to myself, "This isn't looking half bad."
...but apparently that wasn't the series and was just some teaser to make me feel as if the series might be worth watching.
I am extremely disappointed but as you said...
More manga releases will be a good thing.

I am tempted to watch "Dance in the Vampire Bund" for the supposed fanservice.
It also appears to be one of the more popular titles of this season and I am wondering if it will be over-subbed...

Curious and Wondering
Got mixed feelings and thoughts for this anime series, based on first episode. Wasn't what I expected (well... I usually base on the source, like manga), I felt it could have parlayed more into a serious and sombre (but not too serious, somewhere between a few notches) setting. Still, the main character and plot flow keeps the series up. But I enjoyed the scene near the end where Mina makes an impromptu press conference in the most unlikeliest of ways and places.
It's a nice anime - I sincerely hope they don't play too often the fanservice card, it can kill the series' flow. If possible they could put it into minimal.
Probably I need a few more episodes to appreciate this one - but for now, first episode wasn't so bad, more like a 8.5 for that matter.

This isn't what I saw

What DID you see?At first I was like, "Wow this series has a nice animation style, that goes with the tone of the series itself."
This of course being a comment to the "video on vampire attacks" which quickly was shown as not being what the series animation will be.
What followed was a comical TV show trivia something that I was so disgusted with I didn't bother watching.
At the end of the episode one of the participants turned out to be a vampire and the loli vamp. (forget her name since its oriental) commands him to stop since he has the injected blood which might or might not have been explained, I wouldn't know because I was so disgusted with the animation quality of his fangs coming out and him going into his true-form to watch.
The episode ended with one of the anime "funnies" which I didn't watch out of digust.
That, is what I watched.

I usually enjoy vampire stories, simply because vampires are just cool in general ;p.
Though I'm not quite sure how I feel after the first episode. I felt like they focused around the game show and bickered back and forth too long.
It is interesting though how they used real history about vampires in the anime. How many times do you hear Vlad's name called out versus the stereotypical "Dracula." Granted, Vlad was history's real Dracula.
*edit*
In the end, if I had to choose what kind of Vampire story I enjoy, I'd say Hellsing is superior to all the other vampire takes in the anime world.

I was quite appalled when I first started watching the first episode. Mainly due to the fact of how they were introducing the plot as well as some characters.
I am up to date with the chapters that have been released. However, the first episode of the anime was nothing like how the manga starts. I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing yet; though they could have done a much better job with the animation in my opinion.
To be fairly honest, I think that this waste a waste of an episode. I don't know for how many they are due for, but if it's less than twenty-six then it's one huge blunder.
Seriously, we were barely introduced any of the main characters except the Queen, there was no explanation regarding the "fake" Queen (why there was the need for one) and there was barely any real information regarding what is to come in the series.
This is one of the big series I will be following and it's kind of alarming when I see what they have done with the first episode. Regardless, I will keep on checking it out and hopefully we will see some improvement in the following weeks.

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
I liked it, truth be told, not anything near what I expected, but still I'm a fan of how they did it.
Now, it's the first episode, you can't expect them to explain every little detail. The nice thing in having read the manga as we have, means we know some of the details anyway. But at the same time, we can complain if it's not quite what you expected, or didn't follow the manga to the letter. I like a little diversity between the manga and anime, and really it looks promising.

I couldn't agree more!

I'm personally very happy with the first episode. It revealed what was needed to know about the Bund, but still kept a lot in the dark plus the art and VAs are spectacular.

Mina. Mina Tepes.
As in, Wilhelmina Tepes.
How in the nine bleeding hells is that an oriental name!?
*ahem*
Aside from that.
Yeah...that first episode was...Ungood, to say the least.
The first fifteen or so minutes really should have lasted no more then five. It was like watching ANY given "Paranormal Investigation" show on TV, given to nothing more then childish and illogical denials of that which is considered to be beyond the scope of normal rationality.
However. At around the fourteen minute mark, when the Vampire representatives made themselves present, the gameshow portion picked up a little bit, and I found it slightly palatable, in the "Oh, look at that pompous "Intellectual" bluster and froth" sense.
But.
Then. A dude turned into a giant chameleon monster.
And got beat up slightly by Vampire Maids.
And then had his heart exploded by a Vampire Twintail Loli.
Who then named herself as Mina, which is one of my quirks in terms of, "Oh my god, an awesome name yay.", and introduced herself as a decedent of Dracula, who in another one of mine quirks, has been one of my favorite bits of fiction even since I read the Dracula Tape.
And this show firmly nailed itself to the head of my "To-Watch" list.

It doesn't stand for Wilhelmina, the name's clearly Romanian (and a tribute to Count Dracula, whose nickname was Vlad Ţepeş)
Still, your point about it not being and oriental name IS valid.

Actually, Bram Stoker based Dracula ON Vlad Tepes, more commonly known as Vlad the Impaler
If we're going to use inferences based on Dracula, then I'm gonna point out that Mina is most likely a nod to Mina Harker, whose full name was, in fact, Wilhelmina. Mina was just a nickname.
Also.
Wilhelmina's root lies in Old German, not Romanian, and one of it's nickname forms is Mina.

I'm reading the manga at the moment and it's alot better than the anime. I did enjoy the anime, but I could tell where it has missed bits and ended early even before I read the manga.

Just finished watching the anime. I loooooooooooooove the voice actress for Mina. She is just absolutely adorably perfect for the role. But the story...eh, not so great. Or rather, it might have been epic if they approached it a bit differently. Might check out the manga since everyone says it's better.
