Does Gainax have something against normal anime?

So I was just watching Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt,(which is awesome), and it got me to thinking about other anime by Gainax, and I realized I couldn't think of any "normal" ones(and my fingers burn at typing the phrase 'normal anime')they'd made. FLCl, Eva, Gurren Lagann, all fantastic but...weird. So, what I'm trying to say is, has Gainax made ANYTHING that is within ballpark range of normal?

well they do have some pretty "normal" ones.

Kare Kano

well, to be fair, Gainax only "animated" it, they didn't do the story for it.

so it's not actually Gainax's works..

Hanamaru Kindergarten

was kinda normal-ish, but once again it's not a Gainax original, since it was adapted from a manga, the sama with Kare Kano

All of those that's originally animated by Gainax (not an adaptation) is the really "whacked one", but it does not mean that those adapted one are bad.

Original Gainax Animation is "weird" yet Awesome.

Hanamaru Youchien/Kindergarten looks pretty normal to me.

And if you talk about weird .. i think Shaft will fit better.
Since every anime which got taken care of by Shaft mostly use unique way of storytelling yet explaining and amusing sometime (and for some people) .. maybe for example Maria+Holic and Bakemonogatari.

I like to think that Gainax just constantly seek to try new things and not not stick with the boring moe or fanservice trend.

I hope Gainax keeps doing what it's doing. FLCL and Eva are two of my favorite animes. Ever.

Gainax is great. Think, for example, of this term they've coined:

TTGL is were it's at. FLCL was good to but Eva, meh... imo

I just think that Gainax is just trying to maintain some sense of individuality in this time of cookie-cutter series, and I applaud them for that.

I really miss those days when I had lots of time to visit imageboards and download hilarious pictures. Nonetheless, here would be one relating to Gainax and their choice of anime titles:

We love Gainax for there wierdness! Its what make them so epic. Also Panty & Stocking is a great addition. I watched ep1 today!

Maybe Gainax is the company that makes animes that other companies aren't willing to make. Perhaps it goes something like...

Anime Company: Ok, so what do we work on now?

Anime Company's dude with the ideas: Well, how about a show about X and Y and Z. It sounds brilliant!

Anime Company: It sounds stupid! Pass it on to Gainax.

Gainax: So what do we got now?

Gainax's dude with ideas: Well, we just got another rejected anime from another company. Its about X and Y and Z.

Gainax: X and Y and Z? Sounds awesome! Make some calls and let's get this thing made.

Imagine if they made Touhou anime instead of the current one.

But seriously, I want something like Furi Kuri again.

Over the top, funny, yet dramatic, filled with obscure references until you get the message from the creator themselves. From which then everything in the random chaos clicks in and makes sense.

If Gainax ever makes something that was supposed to be spectacularly random into something normal, I'd stop watching any of their productions till they redeem themselves.

I don't think that their desire to play with new and innovative ideas means they have something against normal anime...

Harem shows, slice of life, moe shows, that kind of stuff?

Animes where you don't go 'wtf??!' or "holy shit!' a lot...

Nah, they don't have anything against what you perceive as "normal anime". It's just your point of view that what Gainax is doing ain't normal.

Who knows, maybe Gainax is operating on the basis that what they're doing is normal and everyone's doing the reverse :3

On note, I like Gainax as they are.
