Does Sword Art Online get better?

The heroin for PB, Shino, is not as good as Asuna or Suguha in all aspects. She has a trauma of guns because of reasons and that is all her character is. Seriously, that is it. It becomes super repetitive and boring very fast as that is the only topic that is ever covered when you see the world from her perspective. She plays GGO to try and get over her fear of guns, but it is obviously not working and it gets repetitive. Kirito's avatar looks like a girl so it feels very weird when you look at him. I found this to be funny at first, but it quickly wore off. I find that the decisions Shino makes in the real world to be just plain stupid. A wall is better at figuring out that a guy likes you and is a "little" crazy than she is. Maybe I'm just too good at judging character and analyzing situations when compared to Shino, but even still, a girl should fucking know when a guy is fucking nuts and to not open your fucking door at night when you fucking live alone. Seriously, the amount of stupidity and depression that seeps from her character is just mind-blowing. The story also focuses on Shino more than it did with Suguha in ALO, and like I said before, is gets old really fast. The ending was good, but i saw the ending from miles away. And when I say miles I mean after the first scene with her getting bullied.

I always thought Arc two is focused more on Asuna and Kirito.

I don't know if you have read the books, but Asuna only has like 5 major scenes that focus on her. The first creep by Sugou, second one where she learns code, third where she gets tentacled, 4 when she drops the key, and five when Kirito gets there to save her. Suguha/Lefa has way more scenes and I'm not going to regale all of ALO, because she is basically in all of ALO. Excluding the Scenes for Asuna, the first scene for Kirito, and Kirito saving the day of course.

Since when did screen-time became the measurement tool? This is about the importance of the characters and the motives behind the actions. If Kirito went to ALO in the first place for Asuna's sake, then she's definitely focused here, from start to end, it's all about her.

Suguha is a player of ALO from the start and the author had her journey with Kirito. Sure, she's got lots of scenes, but I don't think she needs to necessarily be an essential part of this till the end of it. Suguha isn't main character material, after all. She is more of a side-character. Same goes for Sinon, the whole arc is a bit more geared towards her, but she still doesn't seem overly important to me. She just gets extra attention, perhaps.

I'm not saying that Asuna is not important or that she does not play a major role in the story. Its just that the author likes to focus on relationships and how they develop. In ALO, Asuna and Kirito's relationship is already complete. There is not really any question about how they feel about each other or any ambiguity about their relationship. In, ALO the relationship that is focused on is the one between Kirito and Suguha. What they both feel, how they express it, and what becomes of it is a major part of the story. ALO is an arc that is very devoted to building the character that is Suguha. And Suguha is not a side character, but a secondary character, big difference. Technically, the only main characters in the ALO arc would be the protagonist and the antagonist, Kirito and Sugou respectively. Who would Holmes be without Watson, not much right? Who would Harry be without Ron or Hermione, not much right? The same applies to Kirito and Suguha in ALO. And by this logic, Asuna is also a secondary character.

The same logic applies to Shino as well. Her relationship to Kirito and how he helps her through her traumas are the major parts of the story. I would even consider Asuna to be a "side character" in the GGO arc as well. She really is only there to give the viewpoint of people outside of GGO, nothing else really. Oh, and screen time matters.
