Yup, I second Maka Maka as a must buy for yuri fans in the states. It's a very nice high quality release, and has an interesting story.

Most of the yuri I consume in daily basis is either doujinshi or fanfiction, but the few I've watched puzzle me with their shoujo manga like stories and art. It almost seems like the target audience are females for both yaoi and yuri.

This might be just my personal experience, but I think the yaoi community draws quite clear line between shounen-ai and yaoi, while pretty much everything with lesbian romance is considered as yuri. In other words, the original series lack pornz.

Personally I would prefer more boobies and less blushing and awkward kissing scenes. Maybe ecchi eats yuri's popularity some? Just a hunch of mine.

The Yaoi fanbase is a lot larger than Yuri. The other fetishes in hentai doesn't cater too much to the girls. Hence why girls always crowd any booth with a Yaoi sign. Don't get me wrong, not all the girls like just Yaoi. There is a good amount of girls here @ FAKKU and IRL that enjoy other fetishes besides Yaoi. Actually, now I'm curious, is there any girl out there that doesn't like Yaoi?

As for the Yuri fanbase, we guys got a solid amount as well. But compared to girls for their liking for Yaoi, it just doesn't match up. And plus, our number of likings for other fetishes overshadow the girl's. In a way, I would say we're more diversed. Girls, please don't take this as a sexist statement.

Of course, again, this is just my opinion. And, I damn well know that there is a hole somewhere in the above post.

I have to agree with this. I absolutely love yuri, but it is only one thing I love out of many, and most of them have about the same ranking (I have five or six "#1 fetishes"). Whereas yaoi fans seem to love yaoi far beyond anything else.

Yeah I noticed that too. And I personally actually like the awkward kissing etc, less than the tits, if I wanted tits I would read some hentai, mostly because I've read more shojo than most manly otaku would like to admit.

I'm a big fan of yuri as well. I really just wish I could go to a book store and find A whole section dedicated to yuri.

There seems to be a lot more focus on translating yaoi manga and hardly any yuri. The only yuri series I own that I could fine are: The Last Uniform (incomplete, they refuse to translate volume 3 because of "sales"), Strawberry Panic (Sucks, discontinued in Japan, doesn't compare to the epic scale of the anime), Voiceful and Kashimashi (gender change).

Mm. And I bought a title awhile back called First Love Sisters, but only the first volume was ever published.

Yeah I was going to buy that and it started to go out of print and is really expensive now.

Ah, wow. I just looked it up, and some people are selling it for 25 dollars now. And it looks like the second volume was supposed to come out back in 2009 but never did.

I really enjoy yuri as well. Verry enjoyable, as I like girls, prefer only girls if I have to see anything!
