Technical Information: Gosick (GOSICK -ゴシック-, Goshikku?) is a Japanese light novel series by Kazuki Sakuraba, published by Fujimi Shobo
Tokyopop released the first novel in the series in English in April 2008[1] and the second in March 2010. The series is being published in Germany by Tokyopop since November 2006.[2] A manga adaptation started serialization in the shÅnen manga magazine Monthly Dragon Age on December 9, 2007. An anime adaptation by Bones is in the works. (From Wikipedia)
Story Summary: The year is 1924, the place, Sauville, a small European country neatly tucked beside the Alps...
Kazuya Kujo has been studying abroad at the prestigious Saint Marguerite Academy, where urban legends and horror stories are all the rage. Most Kazuya ignores but the story of the Queen Berry, a mysterious ghost ship, really gets to him. Of course, his brainy friend Victorique is much more intrigued by true stories, and she uses her unrivaled logic to solve mysteries even the town's famous detective can't. Ironically, it is Victorique's inquisitive nature that leads the duo to board a ship that matches the Queen Berry's description to a tee, a ship that might just hold the key to solving a sinister mystery... Studio: Bones

I'm really quite intrigued by the premise of this series, and I've been in the mood for a good mystery show lately.

I have both volumes that are out in English. It's not a bad read, but nowhere near as good as something like Zaregoto. The target age group of Gosick is younger, so the mysteries aren't as complicated. At least that's what I think.
Still gonna watch this though and see how it compares to the novels. From the trailer, I think the anime is gonna be better than the novels... I hope.

I read this manga a long, long, long time ago then lost interest and dropped off somewhere.
But it being turned into an anime is something I did not expect. I must watch.

Been interested in seeing this for a while, love the era setting they're using. Looking forward to this, different from Bone's usual work.

I'm not fond of Takuya Eguchi's voice so the male protagonist's attitude will make or break this for me. I like the era and Bones' animation but if he turns out to be a total pussy I'll most likely drop it after an episode or two.

Now that I've watched it, my pre-episode concerns were washed away by the adorable Victorique.

I saw the first episode and not surprising, it seemed a lot like Black butler, another show which I love. The environment is good, the art is good (even for the crappy 480p version I got), music is alright and I already like the characters. The goth loli would be perfect if she didn't smoke. =P

Therefore, it can't be said she smokes o:

If there's no smoke, then it's not smoking.
It's like a habit where you like to put something in your mouth. Or maybe she was sucking/inhaling something. from the pipe.

Mind went immediately in wrong direction.
Anyways, kinda weak for a first episode, but I'm hoping for this one to turn out great. I'm a sucker for mysteries. Not to mention Victorique is one of the cutest things ever.
