someone can suggest something thats finished?
no sad ending though. already depressed enough >:(

or slice-of-life
along the lines of Genshiken will be nice :D

you can try Angel Densetsu, its pretty fun but don't let the cover or the art stop you from reading it its really funny it also has some romance later and some action (well if you can actually call it action or not i can't tell) but it's really funny

WAIT! Go read "Midori no Hibi", or "Midori Days". It's a great little slice-of-life manga that'll make you laugh and cry. I thought it was done pretty well for only being only 8 volumes long.

Ugh, I'm actually at a loss now, I haven't read many finished manga. Um, and anything by CLAMP, if you haven't read anything from their circle yet.

Oh, and "Soul Rescue" by Aya Kanno. It's a good, short piece (only 2 volumes), though I don't know if you'd be interested in it. But in the last volume, there's an awesome one shot (no, not a lemon) called "Yume Iro no JUNK" or "Dream Coloured Junk" which is about a girl who has lived her life on a small village on an island somewhere and goes off to Tokyo to find a life for herself. She gets referred to a place that'll let anyone with a dream to stay for a while and soon settles in. Problem is, she doesn't have a dream. It's much better than how I've described it here, and it's very much worth reading. Also, if you're having trouble finding it, it's published by Tokyopop.

I just have one to add to the already extensive lists there. Real Bout High School. 5 volumes, doesn't drag out, good fanservice, good action, and one of my favorite female leads.
