Actually, lots of characters resemble one another. The following image will provide you with a visual example:
Top left: Tsukasa (Lucky Star)
Top right: Multi (To Heart 1)
Bottom left: Akari (To Heart 1)
Bottom right: Kenshin (Kenshin/Samurai X)
Personally, I don't think the manga nor anime versions of Orihime and Mikuru resemble each other very much.

Different arts styles, but there are some similarites in there.
Their eyes and their corresponding personalities are also so very similar that it's scary.
