You should get a good base and so far you have one so i recommend a classic must see Neon genesis evangelion. if you've already seen it (you really should) then you should watch Baccano its action plus great story line.

No it isn't. You might think you know the ending, but if you think it is sad then you apparently don't. I think you have enough to choose from though, and if you don't see Clannad then you are missing out immensely.

Ahaha~ How could I forgot Kanon? You watch Kanon 2006. There's one animated in 2002 too. I haven't seen 2002 but supposedly it follows the VN closer than 2006. I like 2006 better because the animation looks better. But that's just me. In the spoilers, Top is 2002 and Bottom is 2006.

Isn't that anime related to Clannad in some way? I think it's all Key stuff right. Anyhow Air, Clannad and Kanon will all make you cry to some extent. Clannad is probably the biggest waterworks fest though.

It was fucking epic and the first anime I ever watched.(Oh, I guess that makes me pretty biased towards it)

Stamp approval on everything related then, Air, Clannad and Kanon are all must see watches. and all related OVAs and movies attached to that.

Problems is there is to much anime out there most of it does not appeal to me

Another thing why can't a studio tell a decent Sci-fi/Action Anime anymore?
