I see no mention of this anime anywhere, and instead see all the ones with sexy girls being talked about. Whatever happened to watching the meaningful anime, huh?
OK, I get some are more than sexy girls, but this upcoming coming-of-age jazz-based anime deserves more recognition than it's currently getting, especially since it's reuniting the team of Shinichiro Watanabe (director) and Yoko Kanno (composer), the same masterminds that made Cowboy Bebop and Macross Plus so amazing.
ANN Summary: Summer, 1966. Kaoru Nishimi has moved to live with relatives in Kyushu. He's been an aloof honor student his whole life, but that starts changing when he meets Sentarou Kawabuchi, the school's notorious bad boy. Through him, he learns the appeal of jazz and forms his first real friendships.
Excited yet? [size=10]Please say yes honestly.[/h]

Can't wait for this one, one of the best this season no doubt, considering the director. What, nothing about the composer? :/

Well, time to bring this up to the front.
First episode was very nice.
Fresh setting and Kodaka's voice? Fantastic.

Just finished the first two episodes. It's fantastic as expected considering the talent behind the series. This actually gave me a somewhat similar indescribable feeling to Honey and Clover, one of my all time favorite anime series. The characters were likable, the music was solid, some solid directing (such as the scene in episode 2 where the three of them are swimming and you can just FEEL the fun they are having, topped with Kaoru's "I wish I could just take you further away from here" monologue).
This and Fate/zero are definitely my favorites of this season.

Just found out about this series. Jazz as the focus of an anime? YES PLEASE. I'm totally breaking my "no watching stuff until after the season is done" rule for this. I'm loving it so far, and I cannot wait for more awesome jazz! It got Moanin' stuck in my head, though, bleaaaaargh.

The new episode (Episode 7), just finished watching it, BY FAR the best one to date, actually being able to hear the music and build up was fantastic.
I even have it queued up to watch again.

newest episode:
I honestly hate it when the "romance development" turns into a topsy-turvy mashed up connection.

But they did a good job with this newest episode...or at least I think they did and left it on a good cliff.

This is why I stopped watching after ep 5. EDIT: Ep. 4.
The series had really excellent character development and quick pacing. Then...
LOVE PENTAGON?
Hell no. I like this series when they aren't acting like typical petty high schoolers.

Keep watching it though, it will resolve itself eventually.
