Knowing what's gonna happen

I'll change the title someday. It seems unfitting for the topic.
Anyways, have you ever noticed that some scenes or even the characteristics of some characters are usually expected?
Like how when the two people are alone in a house and it's usually raining. Usually the girl is afraid of lightning and usually gets afraid of the lightning and Thunder and gets closer to (usually hugs) the guy.
Huh, you don't understand? Here's the low-down.
After watching a lot of animes and reading mangas, you tend to notice scenes that are the same on other animes and mangas (like the two-people-alone-in-the-rain scene).
Anything else that seems totally expected?

Under normal circumstances, anything that happens in anime would probably never happen in the first place, which is why these special-situations-that's-forseeable-from-a-mile-away are used, and will be used indefinitely. Reason they use such extraodinary but predictable formulas is to start the plot that would otherwise go nowhere without some impetus. For example, your sister/cousin/long-removed childhood friend appears out of nowhere to live near you or in your own house. How many times have we seen that happen in anime, but the odds of that happening in real life are ridiculously low. Or the reverse, anime also have the main character move to a different place to live, whether by own decision or external factors, and ends up with a ideal place full of girls/guys that he/she likes. Or the transfer student that appears in the middle of the year, which usually never happens because it's that rare, except they use that to further the plot along. You'll find anime out there that don't use such formulas, but those are getting rare.

Apart from the thunder scene already mentioned, there are lots of other reused scenes, not only in anime, but manga, dramas, games, etc. As much as these scenes have been repeated numerous times, they may play an important role in storyline and character development.
Here are some examples which I can provide, using the same thunder scene:
-A female character having a crush on a male may hug the latter, hoping to catch his attention further.
-A strong-willed female character hugging the male may be trying to protray that she has her weaknesses too.

Hmm. I really can't blame the people who reuse the scenes. With all the others already made, most of the aweseome used-to-be original scenes are now being reused.... a lot. But I guess you're right. It's needed to see the further development of the characters. But, again, that's just me. I'm always interested in seeing new and original things that haven't been used yet.
But other than this, can you think of other scenes that's been used too much? Or even give out your own ideas of an original scene.
