Loads of new anime on Netflix?
0
I saw this article on Engadget which said Netflix added "a slew of new content," including some new anime titles to Instant Streaming... Were there any good titles added?
From the "Browse Selection" preview, I see a few titles that weren't available when I had my account. I recently canceled my subscription, so I can't see the full listing... :P
EDIT: Checked ANN, and they have some more details...

Also found a link to the Netflix New Arrivals page:
http://movies.netflix.com/WiRecentAdditionsGallery?d=%252Fgenre%252F623%252Fnone%252FnewReleases
Fullmetal Alchemist
Spice and Wolf
Shuffle!
Trigun
Black Butler
Sacred Blacksmith
Bleach
Honey & Clover
Naruto
Gunslinger Girl
School Rumble
NANA
Requiem for the Phantom
Inuyasha
Hikaru no Go
Hetalia: Axis Powers
Dragonaut
Strike Witches
Negima!?
Eden of the East
...and like a dozen more titles!
And apparently quite a few of them are subs, not dubs, which is a first for Netflix anime? Again, I can't verify this is true as I don't have a subscription anymore...
Interestingly, many of the anime streams on ANN are "expiring soon," so maybe Funi/Viz made an exclusive deal with Netflix or something?

My dad has Netflix's which he and my sister sometime watch on the Wii, but this my first time hearing about this. I won't expected them to also use sub anime either. Have to go boot the console later on and see what they have, since I never used it to look at movies.

I wonder if the people who made the anime get any of the proceeds? I don't know how Netflix works so I don't know...

Depends on what you consider easy, but it does allow me to watch anime on a big screen. And thanks to it, I have brought several people over to anime. Before they were like "eh, it's okay." Now they are going "Don't you dare watch any without me!"
So it has it's uses. >:D
Really though, they do have some cool titles nonetheless. Like host club and X. That list above is by no means everything, and while they don't always have every season available for online watching, (I use the Wii) they often do have complete seasons of shows that are not beyond 26 episodes.
I say, anime for $8 is a win, even if it is mainstream. As far as I can tell, there are no subbed cuz I haven't seen any, but that's no surprise. Royalties can be a pain. lol

Ha, true.
My only sadface to all this is, from what I have tried on there, they don't offer subbed series, only dubs. :(
A real shame, since that's usually a DVD feature.
It's like... would you watch a foreign film dubbed these days?
And if you wanted to, would it be the first option presented? No.
Online film companies need to get with the times...

I would be ok with dubs if the dubs we were presented with weren't absolute shit. The only two dubs I've enjoyed watching are the GitS series and Death Note.

The dub for pretear isn't too awful either. I mean it does have a character or two with a odd voices, but it's usually bearable and the voice are for the most part believable. It's one show I can watch either way. I wonder if netflix has it?
I tell you one they don't have though. Hellsing. I know that show is small and treated like it's a fringe one, but why? lol I say they need that one. It would draw a good crowd wouldn't it?

Lots of new titles and nicely dubbed (haven't seen subs). Most to the instant queue so us console/PC users are lucky, not to sure about the DVD releases. This angers my parents because the instant is full of my anime (we "share [I pay] an account) and I hear down stairs all the time. "The FUC* IS THIS JAPANESE ANIME CRAP?!"
I Lol
