Need a Girl

Three boys who are desperately struggling to "make" a girlfriend in their sad adolescent lives. They then realize that their classmate, Ghang Han-Gyul - the manly, serious, quiet person of their class - has been secretly going out with a beauty for 100 days(A 100 day celebration of a relationship is seen as very significant). This triggers the friendship between the manly, serious Han-Gyul and the three dateless losers.

This manwha is hilarious. It's a high school theme slice of life story with fair amount of fan-service.

Tokyo Ghoul

Strange murders are happening in Tokyo. Due to liquid evidence at the scene, the police conclude the attacks are the results of 'eater' type ghouls. College buddies Kaneki and Hide come up with the idea that ghouls are imitating humans so that's why they haven't ever seen one. Little did they know that their theory may very well become reality.

It goes beyond the simple 'boy gets superpower' kind of shonen as explained in the first chapter. It's a classic 'frankenstein/zombie' manga where the protagonist is cursed with being surgically transformed into a monster who can only digest human and is forced to be a cannibal. He's half ghoul, half human and the story takes on human, ghoul and Kaneki's perspective. The art style is a little messy but it's own unique ink design which fits it's dark content. The manga switch genres slice-of-life and horror very quickly. There is also romance that becomes prevalent in the recent chapters and the fighting scenes is what I consider 'different' from other mangas, it's more like monsters vs cops or survival of the fittest (Ghouls(subhuman) vs Humans.)

The plot of the manga is Kaneki Ken's struggle to keep his sanity and humanity intact while trying to survive in the Ghoul world. He becomes sympathetic with some Ghouls who are trying to co-exist with humans, others become extremists that hate humans and there is also the government that is trying to keep public order by exterminating Ghouls, a police branch called the CCG. In a way, I find reading this manga to have some sorta Film Noir feel with the coffee drinking, cop investigation and femme fatale deuteragonist.

Ichinensei ni Nacchattara

This mad scientist just so happens to be the incredibly height conscious onee-san of his high school unrequited love, Mikuru Kusunagi. As all three begin their new life together, will he be able to keep who he is hidden from his love while "living a life of cuteness"?

A lighthearted manga with a easy going Slice-of-life feel full perversion and hijinks as Takatou Iori undertakes a second round at elementary school.

Claymore

Claymore is set in a medieval world in which villages are attacked by monsters called Yoma, who take on the form of humans to disguise themselves, while feeding on the humans of villages they hide in. The only hope that people in each village have lies with "Claymores" who are female warriors with silver eyes and possess immense strength. "Claymore" refers to the broadsword that they each have. But with this supernatural strength they must fight against their impulses and desire to go beyond the point of no return with their power or they will lose their humanity. Once a Yoma is slain, the people of the village pay a fee to the Claymores they hire.

I can't really say any more without giving away spoilers, that includes characters, so I'll leave it there. But this is my favourite manga and I highly recommend it to everyone. The story is extremely interesting and immersive, especially with the unbelievable artwork that will develop throughout the series.

The World God Only Knows (TWGOK)

The story follows Keima Katsuragi, the self confessed "capturing god", only thing is: the girls he captures are all 2-D and calls all real girls disgusting. He hates what he calls "the real" and instead shuns it to seclude himself in the world of Galge. Little does he know that he is about to be thrown directly into what he hates the most when he unwittingly forms a contract with the devil "Elucia de lute Ima" or Elsie, meaning he now has to close the gaps in girl's hearts where "loose souls" reside by making them fall in love with him, unless he wants to lose his head, and he's going to need every bit of knowledge he's gained from years of playing games to help him.

This manga has a brilliant concept executed well, the art fits perfectly, the girls are cute and the story is surprisingly well thought out and engrossing. I had a hell of a load of laughs reading this and there are some amazingly touching moments as well when the whole thing adopts a more serious tone. Saying any more than that would be spoiling though so I'll leave it to you to read.

Tail Star

Long ago, in the far reaches of space, there existed a world as pure and blue as the Earth. And on this world, there lived two "Queens" with the power to control it. When the world is thrown into chaos by one of those queens, a young boy and a young girl must stand up to challenge her for the sake of protecting all that they hold dear.

It's a dark versus light story, but instead of the light becoming the victor, darkness has won. Now, the former kingdoms that fought for the light are subjugated to the dark's rule. I love this story because you see some elements from the TTGL and FLCL being implemented into the story. I say this manga has real potential, I just wish there was a dedicated scanslation team that would churn out more chapters.

Not to sound like some arrogant hipster or anything, I think we should really keep the mainstream manga out since they're already well known and it would be pointless to add them. I'm talking about Naruto, One Piece, DBZ, manga that most people would think of when the term pops into mind. Moreover, if we add EVERYTHING, then we might as well copy-paste all the manga titles here. Anyway:

Shin Angyo Onshi
or Blade of the Phantom Master/新暗行御史

Based on historical setting of Korea during the Josun Age. Long ago, in Jushin, secret royal inspectors named "Angyo Onshi" wandered the country and restored the order.

But now that Jushin is destroyed, only one is still wandering.

This is a manga that I can consider a 'epic.' Epic: noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition, usually centered upon a hero, in which a series of great achievements or events is narrated in elevated style (Dictionary.com ftw) The plot centers around Munsu, a vagabond who carries the Shin Angyo medallion that can summon phantom warriors that punishes evil and corruption. Munsu resembles Spike from Cowboy Bebop: Cunning and laidback with a sense of personal code and he journeys around the world with his busty large bladed bodyguard and comedy relief servant as companions. Most of the chapters in the beginning are actually old Korean tales remastered in a manga setting where Munsu is the driving force that carries on the plots. The setting is in somewhere around the 18-19th century and spans mostly in Korea and some parts in Europe(meaning, there are some European cast) later in the story. In general, the manga starts as a Korean fantasy with a Elizabeth era twist near the end. Expect a lot of sword/gun fighting with some fan service. YANG Kyung-Il, is a Korean manwha artist who also drew Defense Devil, Burning Hell and the now popular Area D Inou Ryouiki. The art style is like sharp ink that blends fluidly with the action and defines the scenes in a bold sense. Overall, I recommend a read for the first few chapters.

Hell's Kitchen is deathly similar to Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro(another recommended manga) in that it features a blond demonic bastard who tortures a high school kid into learning particular skills for a career and meeting similarly eccentric people along the way. Satoru is struggling to learn about cooking while meeting different people who specialize in talent or different areas of cooking: Nakarai (genius chef), Sagane (Knife specialist), Tachibana (Spices and scent) and etc. In the later chapters, Satoru becomes better at cooking on his own while Dogma becomes more interested in Satoru and humans in general. The art is a distinct style on it's own and the hilarious situations the cast gets into is limitless. As for the cooking, they're very educational and mostly accurate. Nishimura Mitsuru is a author who mainly writes about cooking in manga.

Trinity Seven

Description: Everyday is a normal day in the small town where Kasuga Arata lives. However, everything changed on the day of the Black Sun, and following it, a magician appears before him. The Black Sun caused the Breakdown Phenomenon which destroyed the town where he lives. Because of this, his normal life was artificially reconstructed by a Grimoire that his childhood friend had left. Just what is the purpose of the magician coming to the town? What will he do with the Grimoire's keepsake?

It's an ecchi harem manga(me likey). The main character has a decisive nature and is unafraid to jump into things, and does so without inspirational speeches to lead the way which is different than most characters. He is unashamedly cocky and ecchi in his conversation and attitudes towards the girls and the ecchi situations he faces. It moves at a relaxed pace with good humor to carry you along.

Minamoto-kun Monogatari

Description: Minamoto-kun has a face pretty enough to make people think he's a girl. Because of his face, he was bullied by the girls in middle school who were jealous of his face. He developed a fear of women due to the trauma and ended up attending a high school for boys. Just as he enters college and makes a promise to himself to overcome the trauma of his past, his father remarries and asks him to move out of the house. His father arranges him to live with his aunt (Minamoto-kun's father's younger sister) for the time being. She is an extremely beautiful woman who is also a non-tenured professor at his college. When he arrives at her apartment, she shows him her breasts and tells him that he will be her "guinea pig" in her reverse Hikari Genji project.

Based on the story genji monogatari a famous story in japan. It's telling the story genji monogatari how genji got 14 lovers (theres more but only 14 are official but if counted all its gonna be like 25 or more). I like the story but the MC sucks and is super lame and the character is based on a super good looking intelligent and charming lad. Every week I always hope the MC gets the balls to get it on with a girl. The manga has an average of 9 pages each chapter.

Review / Opinion : Beautiful art and well written. And it opened my eyes about how to view politics and corrupt government. The way Akumetsu fix the government is unique, creative and brutal at the same time. And the ending just fits perfectly.

Review:At first i saw a page of Himiko was taking a bath under the waterfall on someone FB and that how the manga made strong impression on me,i decided to give it a go and caught up currently releasing time within a day,well-written storyline,characters'background story(only for the ones who survive more than 5 chapters) and outstanding artwork are something that would make you easily get lure into it.In scale of 0 to 10 i may give this manga more than 8,havent watched anime adaption yet but soon i will once it now already on my must complete anime on this year list.

ULTIMATE!! HENTAI KAMEN

An old gem that leaves a perverted impression. It's a slice-of-life and monster-of-the-week kind of manga where our normal protagonist, Kyousuke, a accidental hero who takes on a perverted superhero persona and fights crimes with the almighty power of his crotch. He fights from sexual offenders to the mafia all while hiding his secret identity throughout his highschool and adult life. He's also the star of the kung fu club in his school and they are a big part of the cast, featuring perverts and skilled martial artists(or both). While it's not specifically 'a hentai' it's a read for an older audience who can appreciate adult humor as well as panties.
