[Manga] The World God Only Knows

TWGOK used to be my number 1 manga I was crazy about.... until recently the story loses it's charm -at least I feel that way.
I had to say that the idea was a catch and juicy, too bad the recently updated chapters were a let down. I'm still waiting for more but it never excites me like it ever did before. I'm not so sure why... perhaps the story development weren't that so good. Rather than keeping up the "lightness" feel of the manga, it builds up more and more complicated problems. No.... it's more like it was delivered to readers in a way it makes the story look more complex than it originally is. I used to enjoy this, it was entertaining, yeah, until the author forgets to input some comedy in it.
Does anyone feels the same way?
-haha okay maybe thats just me2

I think it's just that compared to the start, where he conquers a girl almost every chapter / every few chapters, this goddess arc is lasting so very long in comparison.
I feel my passion for this manga has dimmed as well. I like the plot knitting, but the original charm of gaming otaku-ism has sadly faded...

But then it will be equally "boring" too if the story is just about conquering girls, In the long run TWGOK will have too many characters and many girls that you may like will be completely forgotten.
TWGOK is way smarter than just "Girl to conquer this week" story.

That is true, and that's why the mangaka is getting more plot into it. Just wish he'd still retain more otaku-ism, which may happen after this arc is finished?

dunno what happens after the goddess arc... I mean gods vs devils whats next? aliens? ancient civil? Oh... they still have that Elsie's Sister bomb to use...
He might get back his otaku-ism after they have saved the goddesses... I mean it would look annoying to me if he still remained on his "I dont give a fuck" attitude when thing are getting tough there... IM REALLY HAPPY about his current attitude of being serious when it is needed... He is really serious on saving them due to Apollo falling in front of him + his talk about with her... Look at him, he stopped playing PFP inside the bath(or at least it was shown that time) and re-think what happened on the school festival...

I agree with you. You hit the point. Oh well, let's just wait for the following new chapters. Hopefully the mangaka will start showing a balance proportions in entertainment while keeping the plot moving on the right pace.

So those things are mature spirits... I liked how he said he doesn't care and can just end game but I wonder what's gonna happen next chapter. Ayumi is one of my favourite girls but I still don't know how he can pull back from being so cold before...

I like the new chapters. A continuously developing story is always a welcome. Sure the capturing of girls was cool but if only stuff like that happened then the girls characters wouldn't develop at all. Just going from one girl to another. I mean sure having lots of girls is great. However having too many might make certain characters dull. Well I personally love the Goddesses Arc and I hope it continues for awhile. Just hope more chapters come out soon.

The manga is really good and the story becomes pretty solid later on. I think it's a worthwhile read even if the story is kinda slow in the begginning. THe goddeess arc is awesome XD

This is probably one of the best mangas ever, I have a feeling the ending is coming soon, also I've devoted a good chunk of my life to reading and rereading this series so I sure as hell am not stopping now.

I have a feeling the ending is coming soon. It's not going to end soon. Things don't work that way, only for special occasions. After TWGOK got serialized, the series is also owned by the publishers. So if they see it can still make money, they will keep on encouraging the author to keep on working on new stories.
That's why you'll see the "ranking system" that they implement. So, if TWGOK isn't low in the rankings then it will never see an end.
An author who wants to end the series, must negotiate with the publishers, since this will mean they could be losing one of their selling series. So, an ending that's not forced by the rankings are rare. (ex: Fullmetal alchemist)
FYI, Shonen Sunday is more lenient in the rankings than it's sister magazine, Shonen Jump. Look at Detective Conan, still being serialized since 1994. And because "capturing" is basically the same as "crime solving", the story can jump back easily to minor "cases" while once in a while make a serious arc.
If things goes well and normal, it can go at least 7 years. Most series in Sunday only spans only in 2-3 years. TWGOK is already in it's 4th year so, it's pretty much safe to say it will still continue.

while I'm not saying I hope this series ends, I do hope it doesn't becomes one of those series that just goes on, and on, and fucking on, with no idea what it's doing.

And not like the series in Shonen Jump, Series in Shonen Sunday have a longer "life expectancy", also readers from Shonen Sundays isn't too "battle-crazed".
If you notice it, Most series that's being serialized in Shonen Sunday, are mostly not a "battle Manga", but more on the romance/drama type. And Like I said earlier, they're me tolerant to their authors, seeing that Aoyama Gosho still running Conan, Them accepting Watase Yuu, Rumiko Takahashi and Misturu Adachi's work over and over again.

Have to correct you a bit on one thing.

[spoil]@MokonaNL: Which is what I said. "I take it vintage wants to get all the former runaway spirit holders since for some reason..." Vintage doesn't know the hosts of any of the Goddesses which is why they are targeting all the runaway spirit holders. On the last page of chapter 174 there are 12 targets. 6 of those are Goddesses, and the remaining 6 are former runaway spirit holders. Its likely those 6 are Sumire (who we saw being watched), Mio, Kusonoki, Chihiro, Minami, and Nanaka. I didn't include conquered characters that don't live in the area of the school.
However, none of that matters anymore though since chapter 175 revealed everything. We saw 5 captured Goddesses (Mercury for like panel or two, Apollo, Vulcan, Mars, Minerva). Who knows where Diana/Tenri is. Welcome back Haqua.
I have a feeling Nikaido and Akari will turn up more prominently very soon.[spoil]
