Well I saw this in another website so I decided to see what do the Fakkuers prefer. For the people who don't know which series these are from I'm going to make a short list:
Eva-Neon Genesis Evangelion
Gundam-Gundam
Knightmare-Code Geass
Arm Slave-Full Metal Panic!
Gunmen-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Oh, and I would probably choose either a Knightmare or Gunmen.

Knightmares. They have the most potential while remaining kinda sorta physically feasible.
Float systems, EnWings, and the like are easier to swallow then Gundonium and the Arbalest. Gunmen are so badass that the act of actually creating one would destroy about 27% of the milky way.

Freedom and Providence 4ever...But Knightmares also good...For Mechas in an anime that take place on 2010, Knightmares's technology (Shinkirou, Guren, Lancelot, etc) can match those of Gundam's mechas like Freedom, Justice, and other Godlike Gundams, and i think that's pretty Crazy! so Gundam got the Vote...

I like Gundams, but i'd go with Tenge Toppa Gurren Laggan. Not only Big and Bad, the source of power would be their Spirit and not Batteries.
Now the only problem is to find pilots for the various parts of TTGL. Of course, i'm at the head^^

Gundams without questions. Specifically Sandrock Custom (those sickles are badass as hell) or possibly Kyrios from 00. I love the flight mode.

Hahah i'm sorry, but in my mind Gundam wins down flat. Not only do they have the most variety of mechs, but even though now they may get lazy drawing the fight scenes, the scenes are still better than the other ones. Although Knightmares did come very close, and Eva came in 3rd.
