That sucks. I have been getting all my Naruto eps from Dattebayo, including Bleach. It will probly take a while before I can find another site like that.
Dattebayo is still going to sub Bleach. They're just not going to sub Naruto anymore, because it will be available subbed from an organization that legally holds the rights to Naruto. Of course, if in the future, Bleach is made available this way, Dattebayo will probably stop subbing it, too. If that happens, I guess they won't sub anything, lol.
This situation scares me. With Dattebayo, you had quality, in terms of translation and video. If the episodes from Viz are going to be streamed, the quality is probably going to be crap. I've never watched anything on Crunchyroll, but I imagine it's about the same quality as YouTube, maybe a little better. Even if the quality is great, the episodes probably won't be downloadable. If that is the case, and episodes are removed after a certain amount of time, I'm going to be really pissed, because I'd have to watch the new episodes as they come out. I often do that, but I do sometimes like to save up a couple of episodes and watch them in a row.
Mainly, I don't like change. The situation's been pretty sweet for a long time. Dattebayo subs a quality episode and releases it, I download it via torrent, and watch it when I please. Even if the situation with Viz and Naruto is basically the same as the current one, some things will still change, and I dislike that. But hopefully things won't be too different.
Anyways, discussing the actual series - why the fuck did they just start another filler arc?! There's plenty of material from the manga! They wouldn't catch up to the manga for over a year, even if they made no more fillers, so why?
Dattebayo actually isn't really big on quality. They're speedsubbers and while they avoid wild inaccuracies and engrish they do a lot of arbitrary interpretation of words/phrases even when it's not necessary. It's not Shakespeare so it doesn't matter but saying that a professional company would be a step down in quality is preposterous. Unless you're referring exclusively to video quality in which case I'd basically agree with you.
With quality, I was referring mostly to video quality, which can make a big difference when watching anime. In terms of translation, I just like that DB's translations don't sound stiff or stupid. For example, in Viz's translation, I've noticed that in the subs, they refer to the group as "the Akatsuki." The article "the" isn't really necessary there, I believe. Still, that's a little thing that isn't very important.

I've decided to actually pay for my naruto, I don't care if people think I'm a fool. I went to narutofan.com to see what they thought about this and most people bitched and complained. I'm sorry, but I want to support the anime industry here. Unlike most people, I don't mind spending money on my anime, hell I go out and buy the series I have on my computer, why, so I can watch it in my bed with my portable dvd player, all snuggled in warmth with a furball as my pillow instead of sitting in my computer chair freezing my ass off because it's fucking cold in my room with the heat on! Though I haven't bought the Naruto dvds yet, I will start doing so next month, I need to check out where I can get the cheapest, I will buy them (Bestbuy is my best friend, so much anime, if I can't find it in the store I can find it online, must find second half of brain powerd, argento soma and the last freaking dvd of gasaraki, damn you last volume you are hard to find....plus the rest of eureka seven, why do they never have volume 7 in the store when you need it!) Speaking of Naruto, I'm going to go watch it, need to check up, gyah, too much anime and not enough time to watch bah!!!
Not to diss you or anything, but this is something I don't understand. You're going to pay Viz money to watch Naruto online, to support the anime industry? Despite the fact that the author of Naruto and the artists who create the anime won't get a single penny from Viz? Viz is paying the people who own the rights to the Naruto anime; all you are doing is giving Viz money to pay them back for the money they gave to the company that owns Naruto. Also, if you are going to buy the DVDs, then why pay to watch it online? Shouldn't it just be one or the other?
