One Piece 589

Finally back to present day. Good chapter.

I was pretty much skimming through the backstory hoping it would finish.

IT'S 589, NOT 590.

Also, This is..... Luffy's dream is falling apart....

Well, fuck. Messed up.

It was alright, that bout it.

The only good thing I got out of this is the knowledge that next chapter won't be a flashback anymore. I miss the strawhat crew so bad.

Where's Hancock?????

Well, it was a good chapter, One Piece is finally getting back to the present. Now, I just wonder what will Luffy now that he thinks that he's weak since he couldn't protect Sabo or Ace... Will he want to get more and more stronger or will he break down and stay depressed? Meh, in my opinions, with the people around him, those people will help him get back in shape, we'll probably see gear 4th sooner or later!

That's likely. He did after all develop gear 2nd and 3rd because of his desire to become strong enough to protect his crew mates. But I am all out of ideas as to what the later gears would be like. Or maybe he will just ask Hancock to teach him Haki. Seems like a good time for him to learn it.

Haki won't (or at least shouldn't) work on most of the boss-like enemies, Admirals for example, judging from the Marineford arc, therefore training it would be useless.
And if the next battles became just some sort of psychical/spiritual power measurement (inb4 ichigoyourreiatsumakesmypingassohardbleachalloveragain.jpg)

Gear 4th is pretty much a good guess imho, guessing from the fact that 2nd/3rd just popped up (not a bad thing).

It's probably only one of those after all, so we'll see.
I'm still saying that somehow giving Luffy a second devil fruit ability would do the magic, though.

If I remember correctly, having two different devil fruit abilities in one body would completely destroy the host, so that's a no go. :(

As for Haki, I agree with you, it would be useless against the stronger enemies, but dispatching the weaker ones would become a lot more easier!

As for Gear 4th, I don't know what it'll turn out like so yeah, let's wait and see... 2nd was boost of speed, 3rd was boost of power, 4th might be boost of defense? Or a mix of the two? It'll be interesting to see how'll Luffy will grow!

Training in Haki is not useless. Haki is a great weapon against Logia users. Hancock trashed Smoker using Haki. Silvers Rayleigh fought Admiral Kizaru using Haki.

In that Marineford arc, Luffy's use of Haki generated much attention from everyone. Haki can be very powerful when used properly. Luffy only unconciously uses Haki, thus he is only capable of knocking out weaklings.



It can be done. Blackbeard has two. But I don't like the idea of Luffy having two DF abilities. I'd rather he learn to use Haki properly and develop a new gear.

Blackbeard used his DF to absorb/copy/steal his enemy's ability, take it however you interpret it, so that isn't really like having another devil fruit inside of you, it's more of a "I've learned a new skill" stuff IMHO... That's how he manage to get two abilities, he probably has more to all we know.

How certain are you that it's not just Blackbeards ability to steal other DF? Or maybe the Will of D?

Luffy still has a chance to get another ability.. maybe from a character introduced later on. But I think for now, he's gonna learn how to use his haki
