Rurouni Kenshin

What's your thoughts on this?
I know the Shonen Jump graphic novels aren't being put out any more, but it's good to hear opinions.
When I was a couple years younger I used to stand around in my library and just read them for hours. Then they pulled 'em from the shelves. Now I'll just have to go out and buy the remaining volumes.
Didn't see the show, don't wanna bear to watch the embarrassing dub.

There's google, right?
And to the guy above me, I really prefer to just buy shit and collect it. I'm one of the few people left that still likes owning shit. I'm starting to collect stuff now, but I'm starting out small.
Rurouni Kenshin manga is just something I'd like to buy and collect.

I haven't read or watched the anime series, but I've seen the OVA's which were really well done.
There's also an upcoming live action movie being made.

Live Action. Blech, not bothering with it.
Most live action movies end up making the original anime look leaps and bounds better.

I remember reading the manga. Was quite good. I remember bits and pieces of the anime but it doesn't really scream "WATCH ME!" all too much.

Honestly. I only like the Samurai X OVA film thing just because of how serious it was. I did not like the anime or manga as it was too silly and just for the fact it was a shounen.

I read the manga a long time ago, loved it. Watched the anime back when it was on Toonami (RIP), and even though it was dubs, it was still amazing.

I've downloaded all 95 episodes of the anime a few weeks ago but still haven't watched it yet, but i'm probably gonna read the manga too if the ending isn't the same.

I wanna track down every volume of the manga, though. (For the purpose of collecting) Suncoast isn't around anymore so the best luck I'll have is probably at borders or barnes&noble.

Well i would love to collect whole anime box sets or manga volumes(books) but living in a country where the only anime well known are Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon and recently Naruto(still the first series not shippuuden lol)there is virtually no shop that sells anything like that :( . Actually i haven't ever read any manga book(irl) except for one chapter of sailor moon when i was 6(which was probably imported since it was very popular and very cheap). Regarding online shops just recently i became interested in them(since it's been only 2 months since i got my first credit card) and found about barnes&noble and a few others reading a topic on animesuki(ordered only the first volume of Vagabond because i like the art a lot) but still the shipping is quite expensive and makes them unaffordable at least for a jobless guy like me(i hope not for long). But on the bright side i have a pc and 3tb of hdd space that are waiting to be filled to the brim with anime and manga, a process which has been completed till 1/3(all hail to the internet lol).
Sorry for the long rant :P.

i didn't like samurai x because it was serious.. the whole point of this story was that he's not serious any more... i loved the series.

I'm not sure if i ever watched the whole anime. I think just parts of it because i'd already read the manga (my brother wanted the anime). Manga is really good (though i think the second last arc is better than the last arc).
Beware, though. I remember there was this bullshit arc in the anime about the elixir of life. That kid comes back as an apprentice doctor and some germans (or some other European country) team up with some Japanese baddies to find it.
Trust & Betrayal is supposed to be phenomenal though. I think it expands the flashback in the manga.

3TB is more than enough space for every single episode of your favorite anime.
And some of you mentioned Samurai X. I couldn't care to do a google search so if you'd give me details in this topic it'd be cool.

don't really know the difference between the two but from what i read samurai x is more serious and dark(?) but anyway the manga is just one storyline(i think) and(in case you didn't know) you can find it here(including the anime+ova) http://www.bakabt.com/browse.php?q=Rurouni+Kenshin

Samurai X is what Rurouni Kenshin was released as in North America. What the previous poster meant by Samurai X, though, was Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (or Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen, an OVA which adapts a flashback during the last arc of the manga. (not really major spoiler for the series, i reckon)
Spoiler:

The elixir arc killed the series. It got canceled and they didn't show the best stuff from the manga because of it. What a shame.
I've seen the anime up to the elixir arc (didn't bother with it at all), and the Shishio arc was one of my favorite anime things ever.
The manga is superb, especially after Shishio is gone. I would suggest reading it online just so you can enjoy it. There's no reason to keep yourself from something great. Besides, you can always buy the manga, even if you have read it online. Hell, I read the entire series on my computer, and I still plan on buying a couple of volumes, so I can reread them whenever I want from the comfort of my bed.
I don't know how available the regular volumes are, but there are the big editions that have three volumes in one book. The price is lower than buying three separate books, and the pages are bigger, too. Those shouldn't be too hard to find.
