Samurai Champloo

Was lookin through the boards and noticed the lack of Champloo. ^^
Anyways, I just started watchin it the other day...on ep 15 atm and it's quickly become one of my favorites. It really does show Watanabe's flexibility to go from something as awesome as Bebop to something as truly groundbreaking as Champloo. I dunno, maybe I'm just into it so much cuz I just started watchin it (I get like that :x) but it's really about as original as it gets, imo. :)
Thoughts? Reactions? Feelings? :D

Aw, bummer...I was hopin it ended well. As long as they don't all stay together, I'll be happy, I think. Would be too much of a fairy-tale ending, wouldn't make sense. :)

It's not a fairy tale ending or anything but it's just anti-climactic. Actually, the build up to ending is kinda crappy (that baseball episode was retarded). The final battle was great. And then the actual ending sort of sucked.
It's a great series though.

Yea, that's what happened to me a few times, actually. The first episode was awesome, then I couldn't get into it from there. Maybe the first ep set the bar for cool fights in the series too high. :x

I haven't really watched that show in order but i did see the ending...i think. because after i seen the ending another ep arrived and they ended up playing base ball xP

The baseball ep is close to the ending. Masamune Shiro seems to put pointless filler in towards the ends of his shows. In Cowboy Bebop they fuck around for a while at the end before the last two episodes. Like when they fight that crack addicted clown assassin and stuff. The episode where Ed gives them all shrooms is pretty hilarious though.

Haha, I loved that ep with the clown guy! Fuggin weird but still awesome. xD Yea, I just finished it the other night...I was satisfied with the ending. I mean, I honestly can't see how Jin or Mugen could live through the damage they took and I was hoping for more of a tragically heroic ending (she lives to tell the tale of the 2 crazy expert swordsmen who, though wouldn't admit, would and did gladly risk their lives for her) but oh well. Can't have everything, I guess. :D

Yeah I had a college professor that referenced it, sounded interesting. The reference was just to illustrate a specific point, it should be noted that there was a disclaimer about the historical inaccuracy that are on so many levels of the show, it is just entertainment after all.

Would be too much of a fairy-tale ending, wouldn't make sense. :)Actually, they originally planned for all three of them to die, but the Writer decided to change it after thinking about it. They say "thee who lives by the sword dies by the sword" and that was his original influence for the original ending; in real life no matter how great the Samurai was, he met his end sooner or later. And that is what eventually led to the decision to change the ending. He didn't want it to be like every other Samurai story; he wanted his to reflect his style. And thus the ending was transformed into what is.

I think they should bring the show back. It would be great if they SC came back with a new series. SC is one of my favorite Anime's, due to the accuracy of the culture and the intense sword fights.

I don't care for the show. But when it first came on Adult Swim, I was sick and tired of Cowboy Bebop (due to AS's repeated airings of the show), and I could tell that Samurai Champloo was essentially Cowboy Bebop with swords, so the series already had something against it before I saw even one episode.
That's not the only reason I dislike the show though. I also don't like the integration of hip-hop into the samurai world. It just didn't click with me, I guess. I'm alright with hip-hop, and I like samurai stuff, but the two don't go together. That may have been the point of the show, but just because something's different for the sake of being different, it doesn't mean I'll like the way it works.
Also, I couldn't bring myself to like the characters. Oh, that guy is fiery and tough as hell. That guy is silent and tough as hell. Never seen that done before. That might have been alright if the show had focused solely on the fighting, but of course that wasn't the case.
That said, I'm not saying that people shouldn't like the series. It just wasn't my bag.

[size=10]This thread is pretty old. But yeah, that was one series I really did like; it's somewhere in my top three favorite anime series. Unfortunately the ending wasn't the greatest. I felt they should've stayed together.[/h]

[Does Jin ever run into that assasin again and 2: does Mugen ever find that girl that wants to marry him?]
