[General] Series worth physically owning

I assume a lot of us read and watch many different series. There's some series you'll watch and enjoy but afterwards you just move on and sort of forget it.

And then there's the ones that you enjoy so much that you have to own them in physical form. And sometimes even if they're expensive you'll still do what you can to get them because you simply can't settle for relying on online streaming.

So my question is which manga and anime series do you believe are worth you forking out money for. (Including series you have already purchased)

(Forgive me if there has already been a thread like this before)

Usually anything which I'd give a 10/10 rating to and would want to watch any time I want. Off the top of my head, I'd probably go for the complete Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and some Gundam box sets.

-Some Gundam Series

-Angel Beats, one of the few series I actually watched multiple times, plus the music

-Noein and Gun X Sword, mostly cause the place a special place of my early anime days.

There's only one definite answer (for me) and it's the same for both anime and manga: BECK

Owned the complete collection of Outlaw Star DVDs and Love Hina manga.

Bought some raw tanks of some of my favorite series such as Eden: What an Endless World! and Drifters.

And as a Type-Moon faggot, bought official artbooks and the 4 volumes of Fate/Zero in raw.

Anything that strike my fancy is worth going into my collection.

That's the reason number one I bought Franken Fran, even though it's neither translated in French or English.

for manga worth physically owning:

Berserk (Dark fantasy)
Blame! (Cyberpunk SciFi)
Oyasumi Punpun (Slice of Life)

That's for what I would consider DISGUSTINGLY HERETICAL to read in E-book format.

To me, everything is worth physically owning, E-book shouldn't exist in my opinion.

One thing I add as a bonus:

Reversible Man (Horror/Action/Ultraviolence)

It's awesomely gory, it's hilariously violent, it's gloriously disgusting. It's only three volumes, but for that serie I am not sure it went in the American market.

I've never regretted owning the discs of Kaleido Star, FLCL and Genshiken.

Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin is the only anime dvd i have sink money into, other than that i have dozens of t-shirts and other apparel and stuff of other animes.



One anime i seriesly want to own as dvd/blu-ray is Cowboy Bebop, but have not made myself into buying it yet.

Full Metal Panic in HD and finishing the series.

I bought the complete collection of FMA: Brotherhood on DVD, simply because I could not live without it. A masterpiece of unfathomable proportions, that I am at a loss of words to even describe it.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a definite 11/10 must watch for any anime lover.

As far as manga goes - I can't really afford it now that I'm living in my own one-bedroom apartment. Same for anime and games sadly.

Other anime I'd probably want to own are classic masterpieces I loved, like Full Metal Panic!, Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, etc.

Also would probably collect the rest of studio ghibli works, and since I own Howl's moving castle I can just look for the rest.



Also, holy shit your collection is amazing. I wish I had even half of those, but of course I probably never will.

When I buy a series I look for:

1) a good price and usually the complete box set
2) is it a legit copy or a bootleg (I don't hate bootlegs, but I like when they are deccent)
3) did I like the series enough to own it; most I would say yes to this, but there may be a few I would say no to.

That being said there are quite a few I wish to own in the future (Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Black Buttler, Lucky Star, Hellsing, etc), but untill I get the cash to do so I am outta luck :/

So much anime goodness, so hard to choose.
