There were conflicting rumours for a good while but for the past while it's become rather common knowledge that the second season will air eventually. The official announcement for the release is going to be/was made today but there hasn't been any postings of what it is yet. Right now the official word is still just fall/winter 2007. Everyone will know more accurately pretty soon though.

I somehow think that Haruhi 2nd season won't be aired until Clannad is finished, which means it'ss come out in 2008 fastest :(
