[Anime] Tenchi Muyo GXP!

Yes, I know there is a general Tenchi Muyo thread but it's been dead for around 5 years. This thread is for Tenchi Muyo GXP specifically. So yeah, I had heard of, but never watched any of, the myriad Tenchi series before they started airing GXP on Toonami. This also means I don't have anything to compare it with. That said, what I've watched so far has been pretty good because I like the screwball/slapstick comedy, plus... titties.
I got kinda lucky today because I was able pick up the complete series box set for just $15 at an F.Y.E. I'm glad about that because now I don't have to stay up to 2:30 A.M. to watch the series.

This show blew ass. When I heard the name "Tenchi Muyo" I expected it to be a frigging Tenchi Muyo show. Not a crappy harem show in space, whose one tolerable character turned out to not even freaking exist.

The good thing about this show is you kinda see what happens on a little bit latter of Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki's OVA S3 kinda something on episode 19 or 20 and has introduce more characters such as Airi that was just shown on the OVA S3. Well it still can't beat Tenchi's Tenchi Solution.

Its been a long time since ive watched any Tenchi, might pick it up again when I get some time.Well I hope you found ways to dl it. I remembered torrenting them REAAALLY slow because of lack of seeds. Its a good thing I saved a 1080 bd? OVA 3 one

This show had it own flame..... It keep the true image of tenchi at heart but trying something new...... but even with that the only thing that can save it is the way it connects Dual! parallel trouble adventure into the tenchi storyline and has some of the cast from tenchi show up.

So, based on some the replies, I'm guessing GXP wasn't as well liked as some of the other Tenchi Muyo series. That said, if you were to rate/review/grade GXP on its own merits, how good of an anime do you think it is on its own?

And in answer to your question, 2 out of 10.

The Harem members become degraded to "3 stogies" blundering each others advances. With random filler moments all the way till the end.
Only development you get is in the first quarter. Rest is filler. Rating 1.50-1.74, filler gets 0. Really upsetting since I liked the new Ryoko.

Hey, TU was the best Tenchi show there was.
It was all filler till the last 3-4 episodes for a rush and very forced "dire development", lacked the most character development of all the series. (imo)
Tenchi Muyo > Tenchi in Tokyo > Tenchi Universe
Is how I see it.

Oh, you did not put Tenchi In Tokyo, the weakest thing from this franchise(Yes, even worse than GXP) in from of Universe...

Dunno what your going off of to bash Tokyo, but Tokyo had character development (IMO), tenchi had personality, and they dive into the characters personalities. For Ryoko, maybe it's even with universe, but universe could easily be watched skipping episodes and not missing anything.

Tenchi In Tokyo was practically a frigging gag series. A really bad one at that.

Explain, also I'll go with this...
When I think of Tenchi Universe, I think.
Spoiler:
It was not good to me
I've yet to refinish Tokyo (currently on 14-18 as of feb), I've forgotten the end (watched back on cartoon network). So if your comments are directed to that I will not debate you on that till I watch otherwise, when I think of Tenchin in Tokyo I think...

Explain
Explain? Fool, I haven't seen that show in over 10 years! How the hell am I supposed to explain something I barely remember?

Why are you fighting me on this then? You seem to have "some idea" of how Universe is better than Tokyo, but all you express is feeling.
I have a reason why I consider Tokyo better, if you don't like it that's fine, but if you want to express why then please, I'm more than curious on if I'm missing anything.
Also, interesting tip, what we remember most is the best of the things we enjoyed in the past.
Also also I've watch All three, without finishing Tokyo, last month, laptop screen busted. So their all fresh in my mind.

I just remember Universe was better than Tokyo. Details...those are unimportant.

Again, for you, seeing as it's been 10 years, you would be better off revisting the series than basing your opinion of, off what little fragments you have left. I'd re-watch Sailor Moon before I'd give my opinion and it's only been 6 years.
